Commercial Description:
Cane and Ebel is one of a series of special limited-run beers in styles that are more extreme or unusual. This unique red rye beer is full of hop flavor and aroma. We add 35 pounds of Thai palm sugar to each batch. The sugar does not add much sweetness to the beer, but rather a fruity and vanilla-like flavor. A new hop variety called Summit is really showcased here. This 18%AA hop is also very aromatic which gives a pungent citrus aroma. Then we heavily dry hopped the beer with Simcoe.

Bottle from WInking Lizard. Huge hop aroma with some citrus. Flavor was sweet and lemony up front with a large bitter hop wallop on the end.

Thanks to someone for bonusing this fabulous beer. I’ve seen Two Brothers around but never picked anything up. That may change - they certainly have at least one solid release.

Aroma / Appearance - The ruby red body possessed a chunky layer of head that was slightly off white. Caramel, rye, sweet malt, and warm cherry pie form a bright combination of aromas that perk up the senses.

Flavor / Palate - Sweet caramel chews are the first impression. Soon after comes rye and peanut butter cookies. A residual maltiness highlights a smooth and cohesive mixture of flavors in a way that is so inviting I could almost finish three of these in a night. The finish reminds me of warm angel’s food cake with a drizzle of cherry and caramel icing.

Pours a dull red slightly amber color. Aroma is very floral with some grassy notes. Also a little bit of sugar sweetness. Flavor is nice malt, caramel, baked bread. A little bit of red fruit in there as well, hiding though and pretty faint. Hop bitterness is very faint as well on the far end of the sip. Even though this is "heavily dry hopped with simcoe" you do not get an overpowering hop experience. Finish leaves a bit of sweetness around the lips.

Bottle. Poured a dark reddish amber with an off-white head. Aroma consisted of sweet hops, and malty notes, sugar and caramel. Flavor is nice and hoppy, but finishes not to bitter with a nice sweetness from the malts. Yet it leaves a bitter after taste on your tongue. Quite enjoyable.

Brewed in the USA.....On tap at the Brass Rail. Pours a deep copper color with a small white head. Aroma of spices, pine, bread and floral notes. Taste of bread, rye, hops and caramel. The mouthfeel is thin, kind of unbalanced, but yet still very drinkable.
