Commercial Description:
Cane and Ebel is one of a series of special limited-run beers in styles that are more extreme or unusual. This unique red rye beer is full of hop flavor and aroma. We add 35 pounds of Thai palm sugar to each batch. The sugar does not add much sweetness to the beer, but rather a fruity and vanilla-like flavor. A new hop variety called Summit is really showcased here. This 18%AA hop is also very aromatic which gives a pungent citrus aroma. Then we heavily dry hopped the beer with Simcoe.

(Bottle courtesy of Headbanger). Aroma is a pine like hop scent. Color is a rich ruby with mellow carbonation and a thin ring of a head. Taste is rich and citric. Starting with a medium body it goes down crisp. Finish comes in with a big bold grapefruit taste that has a slight sweetness to it and a rich feel, then a faint bitterness comes on. After taste is surprisingly clean with a slight dry feel and a little of the grapefruit lingering. This is a tasty and very unique brew, but I think the grapefruit taste is a little strong.

Bottled. Shared by omhper. A quitea small sample; clear amber with a low white film. Sweetish aroma of caramel, honey, burnt plastic and wet wood. Full-bodied with notes of sugra, caramel, honey with a in a herbal moderate bitterness. Honey, grass, toffee and metal in the aftertaste. Way to clean and sweet. To bad, I really dig 2 Brothers 2Ipa..

Marked best by 9/15/08. Extra from the beer guru at Lone Hill Liquors. Pours with a large, light brown head covering a clear brown body. Aroma is nice spicey hops, summit citrus tang, candi sugar. Taste is hoppy, but there is a bit of an off cardboard flavor. Syrupy mouthfeel.

This beer has a really great balance of malt and hop. I was doing a tasting of some of my own beers earlier tonight and decided to finish with. This is so much better.

12oz bottle. Poured a really nice dark amber, light tan head that laced up really well. Light malty aroma. Nice hop presence, slightly sweet, but not too much. Very nice.

Bottle from Lone Hill. Dark garnet brown with a slight fizzy tan head. Caramel and citrus aroma. Sweet caramel and bitter citrus hops taste with some grain notes to the finish.
