pours a clear lager yellow with a one finger fluffy and bubbly white head. aroma is malt and hops with a touch of lemon. has a light body with descent lacing and good carbonation. flavor is the same as aroma, but the hops is a little more dominant. has a little creamy mouth-feel and a small dry hop aftertaste. don’t know much about dortmunder style lagers, but it is a pretty good lager. not my style anymore but pretty good. has a little biscuit aroma and flavor as well.

Bottle. Grassy, malty aroma with caramel and definite German hops. Clear pale yellow body with a soapy white head. Thin body with some fat malt, crisp and grassy with a touch of citrus. Light bitterness, the kind that compels you to come back for more. Dry and mildly toasted. Touch of grain and honey with some flowers lingering in the aftertaste. Clean, oft-repeatable session, a near-perfect summer guzzler. Gentle and quaffable with a really nice flavor, one of the better Dortmunders you’lll find in the US.

It is crisp and refreshing like the description states but there is something just a bit off in the taste (which I can’t quite put my finger on).

Bottle. Pours golden with a huge frothy head. Very good retention and lacng. Aroma of biscuit and hay. Earthy flavors of sourdough, straw, european pale malts, balanced by a spicy and herbal hop bite. Finish is semi dry, pleasantly bitter, with a hint of lemon rind in the background. Not too shabby

On tap at the brewery. Cool to the touch, with a buffed and dull gold look to it underneath a lacey sheafed head. Aroma is right where we want it to be – crisp bakery affirmations of freshly baked sourdough, a hint of pepper and a pervasive caramel sweetness. Flavor brings confirmations to the nose, and a sigh of relief. Warm biscuit innards flavorfully resonate while a hearty caramel substance maintains the balance. A mild, earthy spice supports the body but is carefully noble and never too assertive. The “crisp” bakers quality moves about with a toasted, slightly sweetened grainy composure. Medium bodied and exceptionally balanced, ranking in as one of the best US-based dortmunders. Campfire toasted cornflakes see us out with a tiny praline ribbon.

On tap at Clark St. Alehouse, Chicago. Clear golden with a white head - nice. Grassy, light hop nose with a tinge of hay. Flavor has notes of pale malt, lemon, hay and grass. Well balanced between the malt and hop bitterness. Medium to light body, undercarbonated which makes it seem on the watery side. Not bad but it needs some tweaking.

Pale gold appearance with a small, white head. Muted aroma, mild sweet malt notes. Light on the palate but still pretty tasty. Basic, true to style, but not very adventurous.
