Aroma of toasty earthy grainy malts and maize with some soapy noble hops. Body starts with a mild grainy malty sweetness and some strange buttery soapy off-flavors toward a drier, bitter finish. Not really sure what is wrong, but I don’t want to finish it. Probably got a bad bottle. Strykzone (1482), Wood River, Illinois, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Aug 17, 2007 This beer pours a very nice hazy gold color with a small quickly disappearing head. Flavor is a close cousin to a pale lager but with some differences. One is the floral and caramel flavors. Some honey and citrus flavors can be found as well. Each sip ends in a mild bitterness. This is a refreshing and clean beer that is easy drinking although not particularly interesting. bushwik (11), chicago, Illinois, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 16, 2007 (Tap) Pours a golden color with a small, yet lasting, white head. Aroma of corn flakes, some citrus and light spice. Taste is of bread and very light floral hops. Above average mouthfeel for the style. Overall, an excellent example of an underappreciated style! kimcgolf (832), Dacula, Georgia, USA

Poured to a light orange color with medium head and little lacing. Aroma was slightly malty, slightly hops and slightly skunk. Mouthfeel was nothing to speak of, and the flavor was just so-so, all leading to a short, average finish.
Maybe if this was cold as hell and served on a hot, hot August day....hence the name. Optigon (562), Bloomington, Indiana, USA
