Commercial Description:
This French-style country ale is deep amber in color. With a toasty, sweet caramel start, it finishes with just enough hops to clean off the palate. Bon Appetit!

Bottle. Pours a deep amber with an ample off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt. This beer is pretty soft with an overall malt sweetness. There is an underlying hop presence, but not quite enough for my taste. I wouldn’t want it "hoppy", not for the style, but a mild increase in hop spiciness would improve it in my opinion. It is a decent beer, not bad in any way, but nothing to write home about either.

Pours bright amber with a fully receding wispy light tan head. Aroma of fruity, earthy Fuggles, light caramel, and fruity toffee. Taste is sweet, with malty notes of caramel, toffee, nuts, and earthy hops. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, slightly sticky with very light resins with soft carbonation. A good beer, but not one I’d buy again.

12oz bottle. best before 1/08. thanks to xnoxhatex for this bottle (does this mean everytime i go to your place i walk out with mix 6er of unrated beers?). pours dense amber with white head around the rim. nose is very nutty with toasted biscuits. flavor is sweet but dries out a bit, mainly toasted biscuit, nuts, mild roast, and cookie finish. some dried fruits in there too like raisin and cranberry. perhaps a touch of candy sugar in there too. not a great example of the style as this comes off too clean and like a glorified ESB. the palate is long but in this beer it’s not good because the finish is an unpleasant dried fruit flavor. watery mouth feel. carbonation is low and just a tad fizzy. not bad, but just something i don’t want to drink.2.7.

3/15/08, best before 9/2/08 so I think this was bottles a few weeks ago as I think their best before is 6 months ahead. pours clear copper with creamy off white head. toasted bread and caramel with soft touch of noble hops. flavor is biscuity, slightly toasted, caramel, and refreshing finish of some noble hop notes. balanced well, drinkable, and i’m not so sure about the style but i’m no judge. so whatever, comes off like a nice esb to me. the important thing is 2brothers has improved! a lot! there i’ve said it, i actually like drinking their beer now, i guess it’s the new brewery but they seem cleaner more refreshing then ever before. i can’t believe i’m giving this beer a 3.7 but it deserves it.

Pours to a nice light amber color, with medium thick off-white head that lingers well and leaves okay lacing. Aroma is a nice mixture of malty dark fruit and hoppy citrus and the flavor follows suit. The mouthfeel of this particular beer was nice and full, and slightly tingly. As expected, the finish was initially slightly malty sweet, but became more well rounded as the hoppy bitterness and a hint of alcohol crept in. A very pleasant beer.

12oz bottle obtained as an extra in a trade. Pour is a deep melon/amber that looks very pretty in a Corsendonk tulip. The head is a fat ring of white cream with wisps crossing the surface. The aroma is spicy and malty - something must be wrong with my nose but I’m picking up peanut butter! Maybe it is the caramel and toasty character I also smell. Oh this IS interesting. The flavor starts off spicy as I would expect from the style, but then I’m hit with this very full caramel/toast combination that is really very special. The body is just right and the palate is full and clean. I’m really very surprised and impressed.

Appearance: Pours a hazy, light amber body with a medium, off-white head. Smell: Interesting aroma of oven-baked apples with a tiny bit of butterscotch and faint flowery notes. Taste: Sweet, nutty butterscotch with a very apple-like fruitiness. Hint of grapeskins. Floral hops. Semi-sweet finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Moderate carbonation. Drinkability: A fine little American-made biere de garde.
