Commercial Description:
This French-style country ale is deep amber in color. With a toasty, sweet caramel start, it finishes with just enough hops to clean off the palate. Bon Appetit!

Bottle, poured a nice orangish copper with a thick white head. Nice aromas, yeasty with a bit of malty sweetness. Bland flavor, seemed like an unimpressive attempt at a Biere de Garde. Slight hop crispness and a boring finish. Ok beer, I wouldn’t search it out, but I wasn’t to bad either.

Pours an orangish red color with half inch head that fades quickly into nothing. Aroma is of floral notes, some odd fruit maybe cherry or perhaps some spice that I can’t put my finger on. Taste is of fruit, light citrus hops, light note of chocolate from the malt. Mouthfeel is slightly vinuous and very tangy.

Pours garnet into a tulip. Fluffy off-white head recedes with slight lacing. Caramel and alcohol aromas. Sweet full caramel with a very slight hop finish. Not to style.

12 oz bottle purchased at John’s Grocery in Iowa City, IA. Clear reddish-orange color with lasting off white head that laced the glass a bit. Aroma is distinct: black licorice. Nutty, subdued chocolate malt flavor. Dry, light roasty malt finish.

Not much aroma to speak of. Light golden brown color--looks like tea. Medium palate with sweet malts and very light hops. Not a lot in the flavor department.

Draft in Chicago. Good dark amber with moderate head. Sweet malts, caramel in nose and taste. Adequately hopped, good long hoppy finish.
