Nov 9, 2006 about the color of caramel nugget with a tan head. aroma is a mild mix of barnyard and caramel. flavor was very mild with some caramel, musty notes and a hint of floral hops. not bad, but pretty tame in comparison to the JP efforts.

Oct 29, 2006 Color is a deep, rich red. The beer is exceptionally bright and clear. There is an abundance of head, and it sticks around for awhile.
Odor is sweet and bready. Taste is light and sweet, and at least at first, has a buttery quality to it. Not a lot of hop character (the beer is 24 IBU’s by design), but the hops do seem to intensify slightly as the beer warms.
Bought at Breeze-Thru Liquor in Milwaukee.

Oct 27, 2006 A bready start with a slight caramel sweetness. The finish is a bitter hop presence with a sour/crisp note. As the beer warms the hop presence comes out a little more. A good, different beer. Unfortunately the aroma is lacking and the body could be a little longer lasting in the mouth.

Oct 21, 2006 Bottle. Caramel, nuts, and toast in the nose. Malty with light fruitiness and sweetness. Very faintly vegetal. Dark amber pour with a creamy, clingy light brown head. Aroma duplicated in the taste, only slightly earthier, still sweet (too sweet) and berry-filled, but with a dark earthiness. Light bitter hoppiness to end. Medium body, dry end takes a while to take hold. Velvety smooth and malty with some prickling. I’m not so sure this fits style, but it’s pleasant enough.

Oct 19, 2006 Bottle. Cool label design. Pours hazy amber with an off white head. Faint aroma of toasted grain and fruity esters. Initial flavor of caramel and honey, pretty sweet. Middle has notes of orange zest. Light bitter and earthy finish, with a tad amount of funkiness. A Biere De Garde? Hmmm.

Oct 19, 2006 Cold 12oz bottle: Pours a clear amber color with a small amount of bubbles around the edges of the glass. Aroma is of dark fruit, rich malt, honey and flowers. Taste is mostly sweet, lightly bitter, with some tart and sour notes. Smooth leads to dry. Taste becomes neutralized. Sweet and lightly tart aftertaste.

Oct 16, 2006 Sadly no head on this beer. And I bought two bottles, so I know it’s not the glass or the pour. Aroma promises rich caramel flavor and lots of fruit, plums and raisins. Rather sweet, but doesn’t leave a a lot of sweetness on the palate. I guess they got the balance right.
