Commercial Description:
This French-style country ale is deep amber in color. With a toasty, sweet caramel start, it finishes with just enough hops to clean off the palate. Bon Appetit!

Slightly murky, copper color with a decent off-white head. Aroma of sweet caramel malt and dried fruit. Flavor is very smooth with caramel and spice and a nice piney bitter finish. Medium bodied with a velvety smooth mouthfeel. A very good and complex beer.

Bottle BB 10/18/05. Reddish-copper pour with a very nice 1/4" of off-white head. Bright aroma of sweet caramel malt, bread, and some floral hops in there. Flavor picked up a ton of the caramel, but there was also a nice spice array and some noble hops. Very smooth and pleasing mouthfeel, and the hops provided a nice bitterness toward the finish. This brew really struck some good chords with me.

Expecting a saison, didn’t get one, but pleasantly surprised anyway. Roasted malt with caramel/bread/cookie dough but with a pretty decent hop bitterness to keep the sweetness in check. I enjoyed this even not knowing what I was getting.

Nil on the head...beautiful amberish copper color. No aroma to speak of. Mild carmel without the heavy sweetness. Doable again.

This is the closest commercial version of a Fat Tire clone I’ve ever tasted. Probably not a bad brew to clone for Two Bros. since it is a huge seller for New Belgian but not my favorite. I was hoping this was going to be closer to a Saison style by the marketing/description on the bottle but it’s way off. The aroma is has some barnyard characteristics but not right for the style. Flavor is malty with a tart end to the balance rather than hops as the label suggests. Don’t get me wrong...I like this better than Fat Tire but way to close for my taste.

I had this in a cold frosty mug which I thought would end up masking some of the flavor but it really didn’t. In the past I have been dissapointed with soem of two brothers’ beer but I was happily surprised with this one. I thought it was an excellent balance of toasty and roastiness with a slight malt sweetness. The other comments that say it tastes "weird" or "funky" I think are selling this beer short.

pours copper/amber color with a large off-white head, aromas of fruit, caramel, but mostly malt, the taste is sweet and malty and caramel-like, not bad.

Ordered for the first time in Chicago as part of a sampler featuring Two Brothers products. Very wierd beer -- and I mean that in a bad way. Nice appearance, but the flavor was just odd. Someone else at my table thought that the after-taste had a cheese flavor to it. Not recommended.
