Commercial Description:
This French-style country ale is deep amber in color. With a toasty, sweet caramel start, it finishes with just enough hops to clean off the palate. Bon Appetit!

biscuity and soapy, way too sweet, like rotten plum cough syrup. if this had some tartness it would be nice, but the finish was way too sweet for me. oh, and it was a bit flat as well. interesting, but not something i will go back to.

12-oz. Thanks, Headbanger! Pours a murky medium amber with a short-lived tan head that falls away, leaving virtually no lace or head. Big caramel and soap nose. Creamy medium body, low carb. Biscuits, caramel, and soap on the mid-palate. Neutral finish.

Reddish Brandy color from the bottle with a thin off-white to tan head. Spicy, piny aroma is very faint. Some breadiness. Light malt and hops surprisingly well-balandced; slight chocolate and molasses. Spiciness on the tongue. A little slop in the finish due to the breadiness, I suppose. Overall, very nice. A good session or picnic beer

On tap at Union Hall, somewhere in Brooklyn. Pours amber with a small head and ring of foam. Bready nose, tart grain, sourdough, slight rotten fruit, and hay on the nose. Definitely tastes less interesting, unfortunately. A bit of caramel, butterscotch and sourdough in the flavor. Finishes like toasted english muffins. Light bodied, creamy texture, and easy to drink for sure, but this is too unassuming for me.

Bottle (12oz). Pours a hazy orange-amber with chunks of sediment and an average size diminishing off-white head. Mild aroma of sweet malt, slightly sour, along with some fruit and a hint of spices. Flavour of lightly sour fruit, sweet malt and a hint of spices, perhaps a bit earthy as well. Light bitter finish. Average bodied. An average beer, nothing bad but nothing very good.

12oz bottle. Filtered orange-brown color, minimal head. Mellow malty aroma. Sweet and malty, with an almost peppermint-ginger twang coupled with brown sugar. Mellow carbonation. Captures some of the sweet malty pleasantries of the Biere de Garde, but is no rival to the many authentic versions.

Bottle. Ambber pour. Light head. Aroma has a lot of malts and fruit. Some caramel notes and a bit of sweet bready aromas. Flavor is pretty full and a bit sweet with a big backbone of malts. Some spices and a tiny hint of hops. Not bad.

Bottled. Medium amber in color upon pouring into my Orval glass. Bready caramelized malty aroma. Malty flavors up front with a good amount of dark fruitiness. Somewhat dry and spiced. Some roasted maltiness in the finish.
