Aroma of caramel malt, sweetness, fruit, flowers, and Belgian yeast.
More of that on the tongue once it hits the palate. Nice biere de garde, though it tastes a lot like a Belgian amber or pale ale. Sweetness stays on top, rich malt, easy drinkability. Tasty stuff. Almost too sweet, but it grows dry, but lingers on the tongue.
Nice. I’ll have another. Well, one more. After that I need some hops.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 20, 2009 Poured from the bottle, much better on draft but this review is for the bottled version. Aroma is not apparent, if anything very subtle malt aroma. Taste is of a caramel malt with a nice finish. Two Brothers is a small Chicagoland brewery that I can support, this is one of their most popular but not best beers. GMUcrew7 (370), Mason, Ohio, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 21, 2009 Pours deep copper color with a small beige head. Sweet malt aroma, a hint of fruit. Flavor is unique (first rating of this style for me), some sweetness from the caramel malt, also has a little sourness on the finish. Medium body, interesting beer but not something I would actively seek out. CanIHave4Beers (912), Des Moines, Iowa, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 8, 2009 Pours a deep reddish amber with a big fluffy white head that diminishes pretty quickly. I love the color of this beer. Aroma has some caramel and fruity almost cherry notes, with light notes of alcohol and toast. The flavor is toasty and malty with an herbal bitterness. There is something going on here that reminds me a lot of wine, maybe a leatheriness mixed with just a light fruitiness that finishes dry. The alcohol is more pronounced than I would ever have expected but I really like the way it gives a warming sensation much in the way that alcohol can help out a barley wine, this beer is a far cry from the intensity of a barley wine so this is really something unique. Cherry, dusty, and bready flavors round this all out very nicely. I had a few bottles of this beer this summer and it failed to impress, I think I’ve got a fresh one this time around and I have to say that this is a fantastically made beer. Not quite as rustic as a classic example but delicious none the less. MrBunn (1554), Western, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 26, 2009 Bottle. Pours a reddish copper with a very minimal head. Aromas are heavy with spices... lots of cinnamon, oranges, tea. I’m confused. I didn’t see this coming. Flavor is heavy with tea and I can’t seem to get around it and discover the complexities that may (or may not) be present. theisti (1689), Leawood, Kansas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 24, 2009 12 oz bottle purchased at Blue Max in Burnsville, Minnesota. Best by 12/10/09 stamped on the bottle. Pour is slightly hazed copper golden with a one inch off white head that falls quickly. Streaky lacing left behind as the beer drinks down. Some pretty settling bubbles build up the head dramatically. Aroma of straw, sweet caramel malt. Fresh, but faint. Taste is toasty caramel malitness with an edgy sweetness that is sort of honey, but not quite. Decent earthy, ashy mineral element to the finish. Palate is medium heavy, coats the mouth a bit. The ashiness is quite long lasting and detracts a bit. Overall, a nice take on the style. blklab2007 (976), Connecticut, USA
