A cross between beer and a mead, Heliocentric Bragot revives an ancient tradition and proves that the Earth does revolve around the sun - sunflower honey, that is.

22 oz. bottle purchased via mail order for Archer in Chicago. Shared with a bunch of folks at Uber Tavern in Seattle. Pour is mostly clear orange amber not much head. Aroma of ripe red apple and some honey sweetness. Jolly rancher candy is present as well. Taste has honey, apple and some hoppiness to the finish. Drying and grassy. Nice, very unique.

Thanks to xnox. Clear light copper, small white head. Aroma is subtle honey and some apple. Flavor is muted and very thin, honey, some pear and apple notes but it’s so watered down nothing jumps out. Thin mouthfeel, watery, and just flavorless. Not good.

22. Thanks, Theisti! Pours hazy ruddied medium amber with orange highlights. Thin grayish white foamy film for a head. Dusty green apple nose. Almost red apple in its mildness, but there’s just a hint of citric sugary tartness to it there. Body feels almost woolly with carb, but then seems to evaporate almost before you can swallow it. Honey gradually emerges on a mid-palate characterized mainly by apples and blackberries. Very mild and subdued.

Bottle. Small very fizzy white head that mostly diminished, splotchy amounts of lacing, hazy, very little carbonation, and a golden-orange hue. The nose was malt, honey, sweet, spice, and some hints of fruit. The flavor was sweet, some malt, honey, spice, and finishes dry. Tingly mouthfeel and mediuim in body. A mead and a beer? Hmmm. I agree with jsquire in his rating that "beer should be beer and mead should be mead". Next!

Heavy grain aroma,is all I can get here, maybe, just maybe alittle honey came through, sweetness immediately washes over the front of your tongue as first your only aware of sugar sweetness, then you can distinguish an actual honey taste, then everything just fades to black, all seems to confuse the palate,I suppose the sweetnes would be appreciated after a number of bitter brews

bottle from west lakeview liquors...not sure if i’m looking forward to this one too much..... pours a transparent orange brown with a thin white head around the edges and nowhere else.... aroma of sweet of sweet sugar confection and spice..... flavors of sweet sugary malt and spices with some earthiness to it. carbonation was way too elevated for the stye.....i can’t see this categorized as a mead but oh well. it still isn’t the greatest.

Bottle. Golden pour with some white head. Aroma is sweet and earthy, with some spices. The flavor is similar, with the sweetness coming from honey flavors and the same earthy spices supplementing the sweetness. The palate is okay, and I have tried few meads, so it is hard to compare. They all taste like earthy honey to me.

22 oz. bottle. Folks, with my wife in the hospital following the birth of our daughter, Feb. 22 was my last chance to go home alone and eat greasy pizza, drink beer and watch "Animal House." I wrapped the celebration up with this beer, and frankly, I liked it. Golden honey color under a thin head. Follows up with a light honey smell balanced by golden and caramel malts. Honey is suitably dense, but has been nicely finished so it’s not too sweet. Around it are some nice crisp ale malts that offer support instead of contrast. A nice bottle to celebrate with.
