Aroma is kind of nice, but strange. Just not filled out and weird. All kinds of strange. jgb9348 (2511), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Oct 10, 2007 Hazy golden coloured body with a very thinnish white head. Aroma of honey, malt and yeast with some other sweetness lingering behind. Medium-bodied; Strong sweet flavour with wheat and yeast also noticeable. Honey was definitely the main player here - but not overly so. Aftertaste showed some quality - more malt than I’d expect from the style. Overall, a good mead, a lot of honey and a good strong beer that lasts long in the palate - not great for a Chicago summer! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Binny’s Downtown in Chicago, Il on 08-October-2007. michael-pollack (2718), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 8, 2007 22oz. Bottle: Very sweet aroma. Smells of grains, alcohol, honey, grapes, candle wax, and caramel malts. Poured a golden/amber/rose color with no head. Flavor is medium sweet. Tastes of honey, oats, caramel malts, alcohol, Sprite, and malt liquor. Medium body. Odd texture feels thick and heavy on the tongue but leaves it tingling. Average carbonation. Honey-sweet finish with a little alcohol burn. iowaherkeye (1861), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Sep 23, 2007 Updated: Sep 24, 200722oz bomber, no date. Also, my label claims 7.5% ABV--not that it matters. Clear orange with a minimal off-white head, fades to a ring rather quickly. I let this sit at room temperature for a good half hour before opening this, and even with it being this warmed up, there isn’t a lot going on in the aroma. Alcohol, sweet malts, and orange cough drops are what I get with the first few whiffs. Flavor is grainy with some alcohol. There is some honey in there as well, though it isn’t very strong. Minimal bitterness noted. This is really bland. Low carbonation with a medium body. Inoffensive is really the only good thing I can say about this. I can appreciate these guys trying one of the more off-kilter styles in the U.S., but that’s all I can do. JB175 (1664), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Sep 23, 2007 Golden-honey colored pour with a light white head. Aroma is very light with some subtle sweetness and grain, but it has too much macro-lager to it to be inviting. Taste is light and grainy - sweet with honey and soft grains, but not enough flavor to be really good. I’m not all that familiar with meads, but I think this should have a lot more honey sweetness. Not terrible, but not worth buying a bunch of these. TheCheeseMan (539), Saint Cloud, Florida, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Sep 23, 2007 Having only recently discovered the joys of GOOD mead, I must confess I was very eager to try this one. Wow, what a let down. Color is encouraging, totally clear dark amber color. Where is the aroma? Seriously, there is virtually nothing. Only hints of honey. Flavor, well it is a muted and invisible as the aroma. I am done. EithCubes (2163), Indiana, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 22, 2007 Bottle. My first bragot! Sweet, spicy herbal aroma with honey and flowers and a bit of yeast. Golden-coppery body with very little carbonation and a lacing, slightly leggy little beige head. After just seeing and smelling, reminds a lot of a mix of a floral (south)eastern German Pils and a honey-drenched Helles. Very malty taste is only honey-accented, rather than -dominated, much more in line with that delicious bready Helles resolution than what I remember from past meads (really, the Lager characteristics here are striking). Inoffensive graininess and muscat with a pleasant herbal/floral background. Alcohol seeps through just a bit, even a touch of tongue numbness. Classic medium body with a smooth, borderline syrupy feel. Very slight touch of burn in the back of the throat. Easy drinking and quick-drying, interesting and very refreshing. This seems to be a love-it-or-hate it offering (as judged by the relatively high StdDev for this site [0.7 after 25 ratings]; I generally like the effort and resoundingly applaud the experiment, but it needs tweaking. Perhaps more honey and a higher-quality base ale? Tmoney99 (4771), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

Poured dark copper color with an average frothy white head with good legs. Light honey grassy aroma. Light to medium body with a syrupy texture. Medium honey sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations were not met.
