Dark brown with red tint, dark fruit nose-plum, prune, ripe cherry.Wet hop nose as the beer went to my lips. Rich mouthfeel, full flavor of prune and sweet caramel to start. Hearty citrus and green hops in the finish, sweet sticky body, hints of peppery alcohol and more hops after the swallow. Great lacing, left the pint glass covered. Quite a rewarding pint.

Cask at Barcade. Pours a clear brown with ruby highlights. Sweet, plum, candy. Thinner than expected, right around medium body. Sweet, malty. Light bitter finish.

The nose is a big complex array of toffee and big piney, spicy hops. Taste is bready, caramelly and big on citrus hops. Creamy palate. Finish is dry and bitter. This is great and very drinkable! Rich piney nose with toffee, grapefruit, rich rye character giving it a bakery bread hint. Cream and silky body. The flavor has some dark-grain bread notes upfront- toasted pine needles and just the perfect balance of soft yet chewy rye malts and resiny hops. The finish has a citrus-rind bitterness. Nice stuff. holdenn (1445), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jan 22, 2008 On tap at Sheffield’s. Served in a goblet for $5. Pours a ruby brown with a soapy off white head that laces down. Cherries, plums, darkfruits in the aroma. Grapefruit and fresh hops peek out from under the fruity malts. Plums and dark fruits in the flavor. Grapefruit, pine, and a touch of anise. Creamy and smooth with a long bitter finish. Really fresh and bitter but not overly so. Very drinkable and delicious. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 17, 2008 From the tap this poured a dark brown body with some red around the edges and was capped by a creamy tan head. The aroma was nice, PNW hopping over a spicy dark caramel, nicely peppered. The flavor flattened out a bit, malty with the peppery tastes of rye, hints of roastiness and dark fruit, but the hops seemed to fade. Still, a fine brew.

I was almost going to break my milestone tradition of Two Brothers but 2B had to come back strong and thus rating #500. Dark brown almost opaque with medium off-white head and very interesting lacing. American citrus hop aroma with mild caramel, but very hop strong. Strong citrus and pine bittering hop flavor with sweet caramel malt, slight cherry and burnt rye. Medium to full body that is creamy and chunky not unlike the DL ’07 body. Overall the hops can come off as being slightly antiseptic but other than that solid and pleasing.
