Commercial Description:
Okay, it was going to be a Maibock, but you know how mischievous goats can be...anyway we ended up with this delight. What to do but add a crack of black pepper? Around here we call it Goatzilla, but don't let that fool you, it's mellow as a kitten.

Strong, malty and sweet aroma on this brew. Great-looking body: dark-golden layer with a thin head. Floral and full of heather flavor. Pleasant and quite enjoyable. Chewy and bready finish. Slighly spicy with a nice amount of hops. Just the right amount in fact, and this is a very well-balanced beer. The lingering earthiness and herbalness is very nice.

Sweet syrup nose, pale copper color, fizzy head. Sweet honey malt, some berry, spicy end. (Didn’t really get the peppercorns, but there was a little spicy-ness). Medium body, great balance. Very good indeed.

Wow, this is a pretty interesting brew. I didn’t really catch the fact on the bottle that it was actually brewed with black peppercorns. When I realized it I was a little scared. It pours out copper almost amber in color with a short lived head that leaves a ring. Aroma is big malt and, yes!, some pepper. Flavor is heavy and sweet malts, very subtle pepper, and slight pine/spice hop. For 8.2% abv it’s totally unnoticeable. I am really surprised at how good this is. There is great quality in this beer and the experiment definitely worked. Definitely the best Two Brothers I’ve had. This beer definitely surpassed my expectations and then some. I can’t help but give it high marks.

(05.09.06) One pint, 6 oz brown bottle from DiCarlo’s, Mundelein, IL. 8.2% ABV. 19.2 P, 32 IBU. Poured clear red amber with small white head. Soft carbonation. Sweet malt aroma. Medium bodied lager that starts with light malt sweetness and fresh flowers/fruity honey dew melon, and spicy flavors. Finished with light hop bitterness. Smooth and well-balanced, this is a beer with complex flavor character. Luscious beer and one of my favorite Two Brothers beers.

Fiery rust shimmers in the light. Healthy off-white dollop of tiny-bubbled foam. Wonderfully sweet bready malt aromas waft up from the glass. Vague, well-composed note of grape jam and cinnamon. Gentle, creamy carbonation fills the mouth. Body boasts a satiny softness. Simplistic, but exquisite, blend of softly textured sweet malt flavors and spicy alcohol greet the palate. Delightfully polished and delicate despite its fairly immodest strength. Firm toffee sweetness gains a depth-lending kiss of vibrant plums and fresh baked bread. Fat and bulbous malt character has a juiciness which mirrors the succulence of the flowery hops. What little alcohol is apparent, quickly becomes lost within the body’s delicate slickness and plump malt bedding. Finishes brightly nuanced with toasty hay and softly flowery hops along with a body-enhancing doughy-yeast element, yet with just enough grainy grit to pierce the slick wall of fruitiness while the malt provides endless depth and complexity. Two Brothers should devote their time to perfecting beautiful lagers such as this instead of wasting their time on a mediocre line (save for the weisse and biere de garde) of ales. Job well done, here!

(22oz bottle) Crystal clear amber body with big beige head. Aroma is moderately sweet, plum, chocolate, caramel, light nut. Taste is the same, with an alcohol warming in the finish. Smooth medium-full body that holds the alcohol well -- its origins as a Maibock are evident in the mouthfeel. Regardless of its style, however, it’s wonderful.

Nice pour with a slight haze, good foam and a bit of lacing. Malty aroma with sweetness to it. Very smooth with a soft mouthfeel. Very good!

Tastes like a maibock to me, and a very tasty one at that - kind of a musty, earthy aroma, with caramel malt, bright fruity esters, a hint of tartness - a little spicy both up front and on the back end - lots of strawberry, cherry and other light berry flavors - perhaps a little overly sweet, sticky caramel flavor, but this is easy to overlook - the hops and spice do a decent job of balancing it out near the end - Two Brothers beers never get the credit they deserve.
