Aroma is predinanently lemony with wheat and a slight touch of corriander. Nothing special about the flavor, except that it isn't bad. A bit lemony with grain again. Probably wheat, maybe some oats. Has a slight orange bitter bite of corriander at the end. Medium bodied and isn't watery. Overall, its ok, as there is nothing bad about it. I had it very young, and would be afraid to open it close to the "best buy" date. DavidP (1743), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Apr 17, 2004 Slightly hazy pale yellow body with a fizzy white head. The light but sugary-sweet aroma contains gentle coriander and perhaps some banana. The flavor takes this beer on a big nosedive, the same bland sweetness is there but coupled with an artificial-tasting spicing. It's sharply bitter, not seductively spicy as the aroma suggests. | 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Apr 13, 2004 Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is hazy
dark yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (grain), lightly yeasty (cobwebs,
mold), with notes of clove, orange/lemon peel, coriander. Flavor is
moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly
sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter, husky. Light to medium
body, watery texture, lively carbonation. A rather vicious aftertaste
reveals the same flawed character I've found in all of the other Two
Brothers products I've sampled. Overspiced and husky. Even the raw yeast
scent has an off character to it. Perhaps the most sadly amusing thing
is, their beer has a butterfly on the label and the name Monarch (a very
well-known type of butterfly)...but the butterfly shown is clearly a
type of Swallowtail (probably a Zebra Swallowtail), not a Monarch. I
mean, showing a picture of the oft-mistaken Viceroy butterfly would be
one thing, but a Swallowtail? Good grief. MaxPower (961), St. Louis, Missouri, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 13, 2004 Cloudy and hazy pale golden color, spicy, earthy citrus aromas, nice white creamy head that sticks to the sides of my glass. Fresh wheat and mild spice flavors, crisp carbonated mouthfeel, finishes clean and dry with a touch of orange, good for the style, a very refreshing and drinkable brew. jsquire (2123), St. Marys, Ohio, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Mar 16, 2004 Very pale yellow with a huge, beaten egg white head out of the bottle. Very carbonated, and frankly too foamy on my tongue. Nose of tart lemons and yeast. Some spice, bread dough, lemony tartness, and a funky tanginess I can't identify. Not a big fan of this one. hotstuff (3183), Indiana, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Oct 15, 2003 This beer was just so-so. Nothing to write home about on this one. It poured a more than huge head...it kept overflowing and overflowing and overflowing. It had a white head with fine-small sized bubbles. The body was cloudy with a lot of lively carbonation and a pale yellow hue. The nose was moderately malty, hoppy and some notes of lemon. The flavor was malty, hoppy and tart with a tingly, thin and watery texture and light bodied. The lacing of this beer was very, very sparse. thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Oct 15, 2003 This brew was incredible. THe head on it would not quit. As soon as we opened the bottle, it overflowed the bottle. We poured it into two mugs very slowly. It took 10 minutes to get it into the mug. It kept wanting to foam up. The envigorated head of fine to medium sized white bubbles died slowly as it was constantly being replenished by the carbonation from the body. The body was a hazy very weak yellow one with an awful lot of carbonation visibly risinin in it. It had a fair lacing and a medium malt hop aroma. The mouthfeel was bubbly and slightly tart. The flavor was mild with notes of malt, hop and flowery fruit. A weird conbination. It is definately different and really woke me up! Weird! drywallman (230), Lake in the Hills, Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 8, 2003 Opened and poured this as slowly as possible with a a giant pillowy head that lasted throught the whole glass. Very lemony hop aromas were most evident from beginning to end. The beer was a straw yellow with the Wit beer haze in place. Not overly carbonated. The hops overshadowed the malt somewhat, but the beer was very drinkable, and as it warmed, the malt came through better. Not a very full body. I recommend it.
