Two Brothers Monarch Wit

On tap at Jerry’s. Cloudy gold with decent, creamy white head / Sour banana and spice nose / Medium body with some creaminess and dry, bitter finish / Darker, more cooked flavors of banana, wheat, lemon, and coriander / Fuller and deeper than most wits, but still very nice.

Draft at 2Bros brewpub. Cloudy yellow with a stiff white head. Smell of lemon, grass, and for some reason, chlorine (could it be softened water?). A bit fizzier up front than expected. Feels kind of thin, a little sour, grassy again, but with some extra European hop notes. Seems to have a few flaws that keep it just the other side of good.

Golden opaque body. A very pleasant aroma of honey and coriander. First taste is of mild bitterness. It offers spices more than traditional wit flavors but wheat notes can be found. This is one of my favorite styles but this one lacks those wonderful citrus aromas and flavors that help make a wit so appealing.

Bottle from xnoxhatex. Pours pale yellow with fluffy white head. nice scattered lacing. Aromas are common wit spices, vanilla, bubblegum, clove. Flavor is smooth, lemony citrus, baking spices. Very tangy finish followed by combination of floral herbaly hops and more spice with pronounced ester. Body is light and smooth. Very drinkable tradional wit. Leaves slightly strange coating on the tongue long into the finish.

Draught from the tap house. Very mild beer with some great flavors and nuances that tease the palate but overall seem too subtle for this to be a stand out. Aroma is coriander and citrus, sweeet overall. A touch bitter, dry with a light hints of banana, orange and spice. Nice mouthfeel.

Pours golden/yellow, slightly cloudy with some bubbles and a medium creamy white head. Wheat, coriander and lots of bitter orange peel aroma. A heartier taste, slightly bitter on the finish, orange peel with a moderate amount of spices, vanilla and coriander. Also has that sweet sugariness, a la blue moon, that I’ve come to expect from Two Brothers. Average palate/body. eh...

On tap at brewpub. Very conservative, to-style Belgian wit. Maybe a touch of rye in the flavor to help it stand out, but nothing too spectacular. Two Brothers plays their beers very close to the vest...and style. Good but a little boring.

Fresh on tap at the new brewpub at the release party. Cloudy yellow with medium white head. Aroma is big spice with sweet malt and yeast. Flavor is much the same with once again a very clove, orange, clove trifactor domination with some noticable wheat characteristics. Medium almost creamy body. A standard in-style wit.
