Commercial Description:
OH BROTHER! is one of a series of special limited-run beers in styles that are more extreme or unusual.

This crisp, straw-colored ale is blessed with a host of spicy and fruity aromas. We brew it from pilsener malt, candy sugar and some very non-traditional hop choices. But hey, we never said we were monks. We're just brothers.

Tap at Spuyten Duyvil: Hazy golden pour topped by a white film. Sweet Belgian pale malt in the aroma along with honey, sweet pastries and herbal notes. Slick texture, with a sweet flavor. Lots of honey, sharp dough, marzipan, mildly spicy herbal finish with lingering flowery hop notes. Too sweet, making it a bit simple and hard to drink.

Golden honey color. No head at all. Aroma is yeast, sugar, fruit, and alcohol. There is a lot going on from the first sip. All of the aroma flavors along with some mildly bitter hop, yellow apples, wheat, and a hint of spice. No carbonation in the mouth. Yeast had settled to the bottom of the 22 oz. bottle and the pour was much darker upon emptying it. That must cause considerable difference between the bottle and draft. Aroma and flavor became more "wit-ish" with clove and banana. Not among the best of its style but still quite enjoyable.

Poured cloudy golden. Aroma - Fruity, citrus. Sweet and spicey at the start then more bready as it warms and the yeast rom the bottom is added. Competant tripel, but nothing special.

While I’ve enjoyed other Two Brothers beer (in particular I like Cane & Abel), this one didn’t do much for me. It is a tripel that is missing a lot of what I usually look for in a tripel: I didn’t find this example to be very spicey/clovey, it didn’t have much fruity flavor, and it lacked the champagne-like bubbles resulting from secondary fermentation that provide a smooth and tickling mouthfeel. Color is straw. Head is exceedingly minimal. Aroma is very faint. I did get some fruitiness; maybe some isoamyl acetetate, but not much there. Flavor is very mild, a bit of brown sugar sweetness mixed with some additional fruitiness; some banana and maybe a bit of apple. Still, not much in the way of spice, not much in the way of fruitiness, and mouthfeel struck me as being downright flat. This beer wasn’t a bad drinking experience, but it just didn’t represent what I really enjoy about tripels. I can’t say I’d recommend this. I bought this bottle at 3 Cellars in Franklin, WI.

Wheaty. Banana. Way too much coriander in the aroma and the flavor. It dominates the beer and destroys any subtleies. Very much like a wit. Sweet.

Pours a cloudy amber topped by a good head. Fruity aroma is slightly cidery. A bit of spice from the alcohol in the finish.

22oz bottle. Nice aroma of distinct clove and fleshy fruits (especially pear). Poured a cloudy medium orange color. The head was white and left some tattered lace behind. Medium bodied and a bit vinous with a hint of white wine. I also tasted the clove and fleshy fruits that came out in the nose. Pretty good stuff.
