Tart and cidery, a better choice than bottled Blue Moon. Light yeast aroma. The secret, I am sure is to obtain a very fresh sample. I liked it when I tasted it within days of release and maybe ten ,iles from the source.

I suppose I was thinking this would be the basic Anglo-American golden ale, maybe hopped with Goldings and Cascade. It wasn’t. It had Saaz, which made this terrifically spicy and unique. THe whole thing was sort of unexpected, but quite nice.

Golden ale describes the look perfectly but the taste is a suprise. The initial taste is smooth but goes away in a few seconds. Not much of an aftertaste to savor. Easy to drink, but not very satisfying.

Cloudy golden color with chunky of yeasts suspended throughout. Big, rocky off-white head with high carbonation. Aroma is weak but has that Belgian medicinal smell. Thin and fizzy palate. Flavors are very subdued. Grainy malt flavor and slightly medicinal. N bit weak for a belgian ale, but may be a good teaser to get someone into Belgians.

Amber body with weak white head. Unimpressive aroma of malts and hops mix. Tasted weak and watery in the mouth. Not very much in the flavor department. Wouldn’t touch again.

Dry herbal hoppiness, toasty belgian malts. Light golden, pilsenerish color. A bit pisenerish all around, actually, quite clean and easy going. Don’t know what it is, but it ain’t bad.

The Brothers’ choice of category fooled me for a while, and I was looking forward to a "golden ale" in the way of a Duvel, and only later realized they are using the latest American nomenclature for kolsch. Small head, lovely gold color. Aroma: buttery, spicy, grassy, herbal, very dry. To quote them:"Belgian malts balanced by Saaz and Golding hops produce a unique and savory ale, light in color, but not in flavor." A far cry from a Belgian, actually. Texture is thin, finish comes and goes. They’re very earnest, and have excellent package design, these brothers, but they don’t live up to their own hype. A satisfactory lawnmower beer, but not much more.

Hazy golden body with a good deal of yeast dusties. Short-lived white head. Weak aroma with some lemon citrus and sweet carboard. The taste features all the flavor of a Kenmore refrigerator box with some lemon juice sqeezed over it. Not so good, guy. Bottled 10/14/2003, so it's not that old.
