Commercial Description:
Prairie Path Ale is a Belgian-style golden ale. Prairie Path Ale is a full flavored, slightly bitter, clean and refreshing ale. The Belgian malts along with the Saaz and Goldings hops give this beer great drinkability.

Actually I think this is a pretty crappy beer. Pours a golden yellow. Very little yeasty flavor, not much malt. Too bitter and too much bite. Not something would repeat.

12oz bottle, served in a shaker. Brilliant straw color, some sediment in the beer. Aroma is light malt, crackers, light earthy hops, and some fruitiness. Taste is initially fruity followed by an earthy bitterness, but the fruitiness (tropical) springs back up in the finish. Easy drinking with enough flavor to keep it interesting.

Deep honey gold pour with a firm white cap. The nose is very sublte, grassy with some breadiness and saison-like yeastiness. An abundance of rose petal hops come through in the body, along with a generous dose of caramel malt. Simple through and through, this is easy to quaff and a nice summer refresher, but not much more.

From notes: Pours a pale blonde with a one finger head that fads quickly to a soapy cap, leaving behind a tattered bit of lacing. Smell; very subdued aroma, with a little sweetness, and maybe a little bit of apricots. There’s really not a lot going on here, probably one of the most bring beers I’ve smelled ina long tim. At least it doesn’t smell bad. Taste; as with the aroma, there’s really not that much going on here. There’s a mild fruitiness, but it’s a bit hard to nail it down, with a little sweetness to go along. I do get a little bit of some spices as this warms, but as with the fruit their hard to pick out, and the finish is a bit on the metallic side. I hate to call a beer boring, as I do like a nice subtle beer, but this one fits the bill if ever one did. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, and pretty smooth, and the drinkability is pretty decent, as there’s nothing to really make this one hard to put down flavor wise, other than the lack there of.

In the bottle from Dirty Johns. Pours a deep rich-looking butterscotch gold that is a bit cloudy. Dense good-looking head. Interesting taste of heather similar to beers that I have had that were supposed to taste this way. Strongly bitter finish that leaves the mouth tart.

This is a weird one. Aroma of band-aids and dried flowers. Maybe it’s the style of hops I’m not used to. Body is thin. Taste slightly grainy slightly sour with some lemon grass and a touch of honey. Won’t buy again but I got a mixed case of Two Bros beers at Costco for $23 so WTF.

Rated 1/24/06: Rich golden color poured from the bottle, pencil thin head lasted the entire duration with good lacing. Good strong hop aroma is present here. The mouthfeel was slightly bitter which accented the hoppy aroma. Overall flavor is very good and rather complex. For a golden ale this one is bursting with flavor. Very enjoyable and highly recommended.

12 oz bottle. This has been in my fridge for a while. Golden in color with a tall white head, nice looking, but that’s about all it has. Yeasty bandaid aroma bah, grainy flavors, a little sour with a funky after taste. This is a strange one that is past its prime, but really I doubt if it had a prime.
