Year 20007. Poured almost opaque ruby-brown with a decent frothy off-white head. Nice sour aroma, funky yeast, very acidic, sour cherry and oak resin. Taste - cherry, oak resin, lemon juice, funky yeast, dry bitter hops - solid, not quite sophisticated enough. Decent body, very acidic, sour aftertaste (in a good way). This is a solid cherry lambic, no fruit syrup monstrosity this, very sour and funky - well done Two Brothers. iowaherkeye (1856), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jul 16, 2007 12.7oz bottle, 2007. Hazy deep reddish with a one finger beige head (fair retention) with a fair amount of floaties. Aroma of cherries, a decent amount of funk, some cherry Luden’s cough drops (sweet and slightly medicinal), and some toasted malts that came out of nowhere hidden somewhere beneath the funky tartness. The flavor adds a bit of dirty earth--there is a difference between earth and dirty earth (dirty earth is not good, earth can be quite pleasant)--and this definitely detracts from anything else that is the flavor. There is some odd spice, a bit of tart cherry, and a dry dirty bitter finish. Moderate carbonation with a light body. Everything’s pretty decent except for the taste. After I put in this rating, I see people had some trouble getting this fool of a cork out. I agree, my thumb hurts now--lawsuit! TURDFERGUSON (1603), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 14, 2007 Bottles from Andrew and Joe. Thanks! Pour was dark, black cherry brown with a touch of red on the rim. Aroma was very pleasent with cherry, nice barnyard funkiness. Flavor dissapointingly doesnt follow suit. Is heavily malted, smooth, but lacking in sweet or sourness for a lambic. Ofcourse I’d rather those one be sour, and it hints at bringing the funk in that funky nose, but it fails to deliver in my eyes. Gonna lay the other bottle down and hope that it changes a bit over the next few years. ehhdayton (1113), USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 6, 2007 Pours reddish brown with a creamy, tan head of decent duration. Aroma has a light touch of cherries, chocolate, and barnyard. Flavor is a combination of cherry, barnyard, herb, and a mild vinigar tartness at the finish. ABUSEDGOAT (1934), California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 6, 2007 Cloudy brown, fairly small head with average lacing and retention. Strange color compared to the Belgian ones. Aroma is sweet and tart cherry, caramel, darker malt notes like roast and chocolate, light caramel and barnyard action. Medium bodied with a finish that is both sweet and tart. Sweeter than most examples, but not nearly as sweet as Lindemans. Not sure if I like the dark malt notes in a kriek. Interesting, somewhat enjoyable. My first American Lambic. Schroppfy (1813), Ohio, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 5, 2007 Updated: Jul 6, 2007Bretty, less sour and less sweet than Belgian kriek. Iron in the flavor. Just not a strong aroma (brett, subdued cherry) nor flavor. Nice body, just a bit underoomphed. Kriek is misspelled as KREIK on the label! I would like this aged to see if it develops more. aracauna (2389), Georgia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 3, 2007 Probably one of the most authentic lambic aromas in an American-brewed lambic-style beer. Plenty of funk straight out of Belgium. They must have gottena really good culture for this one. Despite the hardcore lambic aroma, the flavor really isn’t as sour as I expected. It’s most like a Rodenbach flemish sour with the bigger malt and fruitier tartness than the harsh acidity of the typical lambic. Whatever it was, I really dug this beer. Great funk in the nose, but a better drinkability that most. notalush (2664), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jun 24, 2007 Thanks to beastiefan2k for sharing - not traditionally a lambic in most senses of the word - brownish pour with a red tint to it - oak, cherry and light earthiness in the aroma - medium tart, with more of a flemish red tang to it than a dry, lambic sourness - mild, chocolate and cherry sweetness behind the tart character - some hints of wood - fairly tasty, but lacking complexity.
