| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 25, 2008 Had this at a beer taste a year ago and was impressed enough to buy 2 bottles at $8+ a pc. Finally cracked the first today. It had been in my fridge since around xmas. Big dark cherry aroma and some wood. Deep garnet color with no head. Taste was big dark cherry for an instant then it turned tart and woody with hints of funk and oak in a dryish finish. Mouth feel was not what I was hoping for as it was too thin and too dry. It got better as it warmed tho. Someone when I bought stated that this was 8% abv. I highly doubt that. Compared to Quelque Chose(sp) this was disappointing. Walt (2289), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | May 9, 2008 Pour is deep reddish black with a nice thin tight bubbled tan head...smell is tart cherry and lots of funky wood...brett and faintly lactic with lots of horseblanket and barnyard with a subtle almost vanilla aspect to it...the taste is not nearly as tart or funky as the nose...lively yet delicate carbonation brings out a more sweet rather than tart cherry flavor...as it warms a little more tartness definitely comes out, but still not as much as I would like...the funk though is very apparent with lots of wood flavors too...this is a really terrific effort and I bet the next lambics turn out better! Pours a deep ruby reddish brown with a medium had that fades a bit. Aroma is woody, light stale old oakiness- some dry hay, and wierd tart cherries- almsot like a robitussin cough syrup quality to it, some barnyard funk and toasted almond- definitely not what I expected. More medicinal cherry and wood in the flavor- both try to dominate- soem sweet malts, sweet cherry and cherry pit- tannins are strong as well. Spicy and medicinal phenols wth some vanilla and plastic make it a bit muddled and dirty. Reminded me a bit of a de dolle oerbier reserva, but not nearly as good. I didnt like it much at the beginning, but it started to grow on me at the end. hophead75 (1964), Boonton, New Jersey, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 24, 2008 Bottle from Schroppfy, thanks! Pours a dark reddish brown with a medium to large head. Aroma is moderately funky and sour with alot of oak, some mineral, light cherry, and very light caramel. Taste is some light cherry, lightly sour and moderately funky, alot of oak, some touches of ruuber phenolics, vanilla, and light caramel. Not too bad, would need alot more cherry character to taste like a kriek though. Beerlando (2351), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Apr 18, 2008 Updated: Apr 20, 2008Pours a dark burgundy color with mahogany brown highlights. A large, frothy, cream colored head shows excellent retention. Thick clumps and flares of lacing cling to the glass. The nose is lightly sour, vinous, and very oaken. Vanilla and dry wood show alongside sour brown notes Flavors follow suit. Dry caramel and sour wood overpower anything that could possibly resemble cherries. Seems to be more grape based. Lighter bodied and smooth, finishing rather dry. This isn’t anything like a Kriek Lambic. Not even close. This is a run of the mill, lackluster sour brown. A disappointment. bu11zeye (5621), Frisco, Texas, USA
