Pours a nice glossy near black with a small but thick frothy medium dark tan head. Really nice, but light, coffee ground aroma, also a bit of sour-cream. Flavor is initially fairly sweet with a sour-cream tang, a nice coffee ground flavor comes next but never emerges completely from the milky sweetness, medium acidity, hard roast. Light caramel, coffee and sour-cream finish. Probably the best Two Brothers beer I’ve had. No sign of alcohol at all and superbly drinkable for a heavy dark 9.2% beer. Medium/full bodied with a nice creamy mouthful, not sticky at all, softer medium sized tightly packed carbonation bubbles. southamptonsam (81), New York, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 13, 2009 Bomber. Poured burny umber with off-tan head. Nose was dark malt, dark choc, coffee, with a dark malty, cacao, and espresso flavor ansd some backup hops, a medium to light on the malt palate, and a mediocre complexity. The coffee is great in this, and it does not overpower the malt, which is a good thing. If you like coffee beers, you will enjoy this one. JCB (1768), Durham, North Carolina, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 9, 2009 22oz from tytoanderso - thanks, dude! Oily black pour with a nice one-finger cream head. Lively carbonation and a very rich aroma of coffee and chocolate malts. I’m impressed that the coffee aroma isn’t just "roast your face off" but actually has some depth to it, like good java should. Velvety mouthfeel and even some lactic qualities in the taste, weird, almost like a coffee Baltic. Fresh and just a bit assertive, this one is very nice. Finish is slightly too chalky, but this is a winner. JoeMcPhee (5000), Jackson Heights, New York, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 9, 2009 Tap at Ginger Man. Dark brown colour, thick sticky tan head. Aroma is quite coffee-laden. Lots of dark malts, some faint cherry sweetness and a bit of toasted grain. Flavour is also loaded with coffee and light roast. Lightly vegetal with a bit of cold coffee character. A fairly prominent bitterness that is somewhat atypical for the style. It’s a pretty nice coffee beer. kseecs16 (887), Naperville, Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 6, 2009 Bottle. Opaque red hued brown with a filmy light tan head that accumulates at and clings to the edge of the glass. Aroma is rich, spicy and bready from the rye with a pleasant robust coffee character and notes of chocolate. Coffee is forward along with a chocolatey sweetness. Develops some nice spicy rye flavors on the mouth. Finish is nicely bitter and roasty. shigadeyo (2263), Harrison, Ohio, USA

It is topped with a dense, tan-colored head that lasts for quite a long time. It has a mocha aroma that leans more toward chocolate than coffee though. The semi-sweet chocolate flavor with hints of roasted malt and coffee beans. There is a soft, pleasing bitterness. This beer has a good, smooth, milky texture with a medium-full body. This beer is good, but nothing special. It seems to be lacking flavor and depth, so I am a bit disappointed. Let’s see what happens after it warms up some more...
