Commercial Description:
Black Ale Brewed With Coffee Beans RED EYE Coffee porter is one of a series of special limited run beers in styles that are more EXTREME or unusual. Porter’s an elusive dark ale that has been constantly changing during its long 300 year history. We figured it was about RIPE for some REINVENTION. 23.3 Plato 40IBUs 9.2 ABV

Draft at Jerry’s. Black with good, creamy cappuccino head / Rich, roast nose of barley, coffee, chocolate and vanilla / Medium body, chewy with good hop balance on the excellent, lingering finish / Flavors of tobacco, dark roast coffee, bittersweet chocolate, and vanilla / Great flavor profile and balance. Better than many stouts.

Black color with a one-finger head. Strong coffee aroma. Light chocolate and roasted malt. Tons of coffee, chocolate and rich, dark malt flavor. Very light bitter roast. Thick as heck. I freakin love this!

another fantastic coffee porter in a growing sea of coffee-infused beers. pours black and bleeds a medium thick head. nose is slightly sweet with a hint of smoke. mouth is silky and somewhat oily. taste is coffee and dark chocolate. tastes more like a stout than a porter, but is wonderful. if two brothers would make it in a 6 pack for $3.99, I would be a happy man. Excellent treat for any coffee/beer fanatics.

Bottle courtesy of bu11zeye. Dark brown that sneezes at red. Fat coffee aroma. Lovely and roasted. Taste is easy drinking coffee with roasted malts that sit evenly. Very good.

Bottle thanks to Bu11zeye. Pours a dark brown/black with tan head. Aroma is very nice, some coffee, dark roasted grain, malt. Flavor of rich dark roast, malty, with some nice coffee notes. Mouth feel is heavy body with medium carbonation. Overall, great stuff!!!!

Bomber. Poured black with a creamy, dark, well-retained cap of tan head. The aroma picked up an excellent dose of coffee with rich, nutty notes, vanilla, and earth present.. the fresh beans were joined by semi-sweet chocolate.. piney hoppage cut through the meat, and this was well-balanced. The flavor was also focused on the coffee, with moderately-roasted malty goodness at the core and some bitterness on the edges.. chocolate and a little blackstrap molasses also down there.. vanilla and toasty pine accents.. mocha on the finish. Medium-plus bodied and a touch sour on the palate from the beans.. roasty and sweet overall, but I thought it had enough other stuff to make up for the latter. This was just what I needed.. I wasn’t planning to score it this high, but I just couldn’t find anything to knock it for.

22 oz bottle from Abe’s. Pours a deep dark blackish/brown with a smaller sized beige head. Aroma of fresh brewed coffee, roasted malts, dark chocolate, vanilla extract, slight alcohol. Palate is medium to fuller with a nice creamy mouthfeel and light to average carbonation. Flavor is more of a mild coffee, slight cream, burnt malts, burnt toast and some slight dark red grapes. Very solid underrated beer.

Bottle and served in my Stone IRS snifter: Initial huge fluffy beige head which left excellent lacework upon the glass, solid deep brown hue. The aroma has notes of resiny and herbal hops, fresh coffee, chocolate, charred malts, pipe tobacco, and a hint of fig. The taste starts with a combination of bitter coffee and bitter hops with the sweet malt in the background. However the malt come forward a bit more towards the finish. Slight smoke, lacto twang, anise and alcohol noted on the finish. The aftertaste is actually nicely complex. The mouth feel is smooth and displays a very good body for a coffee imbued beer. Warming and inviting, this is darn nice coffee porter, dare I say almost Baltic in nature.
