| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 24, 2003 Color is a dark coppery brown with a thin head that fizzed out quick and has some spotty dot-like lace. Smells of pale, but sweet malt, nuts, and has a bit of light cherry note, quite nice. Taste is light and smooth with some solid nut and malt flavors. This is an all malt brew and it shows, cuz there ain't no hops to be found. Thats not a bad thing as long as it makes up for it, which it does. It just lacks some in the robust and roundedness compared to most other browns. Has solid medium smooth body and is very drinkable, gets a little better as it warms a bit. One nice, easy and smooth beer. Silphium (2139), Haslett, Michigan, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 14, 2004 Deep red-brown body, clear, with an initially medium light tan head that dissipates quickly. Nice brown sugar, caramel, nutty aroma. Flavor is toasty, fruity and nutty with caramel, brown sugar, and red grape. Red wine/oaky finish is a bit too astringent. Light-medium bodied; this beer could be a tad heavier. Overall this is quite nice and a welcome treat. It’s been awhile since I tried a new brown ale. Pigfoot (2226), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 28, 2004 Dark plummy color, close to brown, reddish ’round the sides. Decent, if short, off-white head. Aroma has traces of nuts, cocoa, and sweet malt, but rather shyly, even vapid.
Very smooth on the palate, with a good, solid body, juicy malt, and slight hops, if any. Soft texture, good balance.
Nice, drinkable, but none-too-complex. Better than many a brown ale, like certain ones in see-through bottles.
Another good brew from Tyranena.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 22, 2003 Body is a hazy amber. I detect a very very light chocolate aroma, covered almost completely by a little bit of hops. Very light sweetness in the taste w/ moderate bitterness. Seems balanced with enough flavor to keep it interesting. Headbanger (1597), Aurora, Illinois, USA
