Commercial Description:
Big, fat & flowing with hoppiness. Humongous nose... bursting with flavor... and intense mouth-numbing bitterness. The Bitter Woman’s evil alter ego!

Compared side by side with the Hop whore, and this one just doesnt compare- I guess part of it is due to the fact that this one is older, but still not much hops overall. Pours a slightly deeper dark copper with a sticky thin off white head. Aroma is earthy and hoppy with hints of citrus, tea and cedary woodiness. Earthy hop flavor, light orange peel citrus, adn some piney hints and a tea-like earthy harsh bitterness- light caramel malts for some balance. Body and mouthfeel was ok- but Hop Whore is considerably better.

(Bottle) Pours a clear amber body with an average white head. Aroma of mint, spruce, caramel, lemon, and orange peel. Flavor of citrusy hops and caramel malt.

Many thanks to Chuck for this one! Nice head retention and beautiful aroma which gently makes its presence known. Deep amber hue with bits of sediment and hops flowing around the glass. Not nearly the aggressive hop profile as its counsin Hop Whore, but one where everything is balanced much better. Milder than expected and not nearly what I was expecting after reading the description, however. Much lighter body and mouthfeel than I was expecting as well. Hmm, "extra" IPA? "intense mouth-numbing bitterness"? "Big, fat and flowing"? Uh, what am I missing here? Confused on how "huge" this was meant to be. If this were marketed as just an IPA, I’d say outstanding. But, if they really want this to be something of an "extra" IPA then I’d say they skimped ALOT on ingredients. A great session beer that I really enjoyed and actually liked better than Hop Whore.

An almost copper pour with a lite off white head. An aroma of hops and sweet malt. A flavor of maltiness and piney hops. A bitter that reminds you of grapefruit after you brush your teeth in the morning. A very pleasant bitter that hangs with you. A mouthfeel that is almost thick and well carbonated. A very good example of the style.

Starts off with the aroma leaning strongly on the piny side. Downplayed citrus/grapefruit notes here. Taste is caramel, followed by orange citrus, with some fairly strong roast bitterness. Bitter flavors stood apart a bit much, but the hop qualities were strong and defined. An IPA that certainly packs a punch.

Pours a medium amber with a small head. Aroma of pine and light grapefruit. Flavor is a dry bitter citrus and pine. Maybe a touch of pineapple. Very enjoyable.

Sampled at Dutch 70’s "Tasting in the Woods; Part Deux". Clear copper with suspended particles and a light beige head. Nice piney, fruity nose. Very bitter. Flavors of dark caramel, grapefruit and resinous hops. I love my bitter IPAs but I found this one to be approaching the harsher side. I’d like to see this one with less bittering hop additions and/or more malty sweetness. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.

Bottle (from JK). Strong canned peach and grapefruit hops aroma. Medium amber color with small head. Initially hits the tongue with a sweet peach/orange flavor but then the bitterness hits - crescendos to its peak after swallowing and very slowly fades away. A hop lover’s dream.
