Commercial Description:
Rob so enjoyed the rye component of Dirty Old Man that we decided to brew an IPA with it as well. We’ll be amping up the gravity, as well as the flavoring and aroma hops (relative to Bitter Woman).

Pours a lightly hazy, dark orange-amber color with a thick head of ivory tinted froth. Dense, sticky, cobweb sheeting clings hard to the glass, holding strong for the duration. Aromas are of toasted toffee and biscuit malt, with wisps of rye grain and perhaps some caraway seed. Orange peel and pine comprise the hop profile, which is quite resinous and balancing. Flavors follow suit, teetering between sweet toffee toast and strikingly bitter citrus and pine hop resins. The clean and powerful rye seems to intensify the hoppiness, sticking to the rear of the tongue on the finish. Big bodied and smooth, with moderate carbonation, the palate offers ample substance to hold up the bold flavors. Good stuff. I really dig the rye IPA sub-genre.

Lovely golden orange color. Hop aroma is gentle. Interesting mix of pepper and bitter hops. It works for me because the pepper fades off nicely.

12 oz bottle. Pours amber with a thick 1 inch head that dissipates quickly. Nice lacing left on side of glass. Nose is malty, fruity, with some rye in the background. Flavor is similiar, bold caramel malts and citrus blend nicely with the rye. A bit sticky from the hops resin, and some slight bitterness that lingers on the palate. This is a tasty treat.

12 oz bottle. Clear amber with a thin whitish head. Nose is orange taffy, a bit salty with the rye. Sharp carb with a creamy mouthfeel ending resiny. Taste is tangerine and grilled pineapple with a nice bitter grapefruit bite. Dry finish with lingering zest and rye.

Bottle. Nice rich amber pour, small white head. Aroma is full of citrus notes, caramel, and maybe some light apple notes. Flavor is lightly bitte with some citrus notes and a nice caramel balance. Good beer.
