Aroma of citrus, caramel malt, and spicy rye malt. Flavor is initially quite spicy from the rye with a citrus, fruity malt finish. Pleasant and easy drinking! Nice beer.

Aroma big on spicy rye notes with citrus hoppiness and some fresh, lightly buttered roll. Flavor again really highlights that spiciness with ample breadiness and strong bitterness. I guess I can kind of see why others would say this is more APA than IPA, but I think that impression has more to do with the ratio of hops to malt. I think there are plenty of hops here, just also a big focus on the rye malt component as well. In any case, I like it. shigadeyo (2263), Harrison, Ohio, USA

This beer is light on the malt, but the spicy character of the rye definitely comes through. Overall the bitterness level is moderate+ and it finishes dry thanks to the rye. The beer is deep gold in color with a white to off-white head that has a lovely reverse cascading display on the pour and then leaves thick lacing on the glass throughout. This beer is also medium-bodied with a slick, smooth texture. Tasty!

The latest release in the Brewers Gone Wild series is a nice twist. Mixing rye with the Bitter Woman results in a Midwestern IPA which is a little different than your usual beer. Pick it up fresh and savor a new experience.
Aroma / Appearance - Opaque bronze fluid swirled around the glass creating a dense sandy head. There was a trace of carbonation keeping it interesting. The aroma is not unlike that of roses growing in a field of wheat. Peach, melon, and iced tea complete the profile. Smooth and sweet it has everything you would want in an IPA.
Flavor / Palate - Toasted rye, peach, and lemon enrich the palate. A honeyish aftertaste and bitter finish wrap up the basics. Easy to drink it would not be hard to finish two or three in an evening, especially on a damp summer day. Trev (896), Lakeville, Minnesota, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 27, 2009 Pours dark gold with reddish tinge and a thin o/w head.
Aroma is dusty caramel maltiness, rye breadiness and some resiny hop.
Flavour is nice herbal bitter, with a grainy sourness. Medium malt and smooth body.
Bit of a lingering mettalic bitterness to the finish though. Tweety (344), Vancouver, Washington, USA

A solid rye IPA, this one is smoother than your average IPA (as is usual for the style) with that underlying different flavor. Petrucci914 (601), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA

This was a bit of a disappointment, it didn’t seem much different from the standard Bitter Woman, with very little, if any, rye characteristics. Pours a dark golden color with a thin white head. Aroma is resinous hops and caramel malts, with small hints of Rye. Meh. Juelze (925), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA

Not sure if it was the Malt House’s glassware but this beer smelled kinda funky, like a damp basement in a really old house. The hops seemed pretty subdued compared to other beers I recently had. The rye smooths out some of the abrasiveness you find in some IPAs but overall, I just didn’t care for it.
