Thanks BrewBlackHole for this in trade! blankboy (3207), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 15, 2006 Bottle shared with HogTownHarry & tupalev -- my bottle courtesy of Secret Santa. Pours a slightly hazy golden-orange with a small diminishing white head. Pleasant hoppy aroma with some sweet malt base. Flavour also hoppy with sweet malt and some fruit -- pretty well balanced and easy to drink. Medium bodied. Straightforward and simple, it won’t make any "top 10" lists but it’s still pretty good and enjoyable. tupalev (2617), Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 11, 2006 Bottle shared with Hogtown Harry and Blankboy, Paul’s bottle. First off: one of the better beer names I have encountered (even my wife loved it!). Light orange, small white head. Decent aroma: hops, earthy, herbal and tea like, but strong. Taste: very herbal hops, lots of bitterness in this vein, and then more tea. Wow, this tastes like bitter cold iced tea (unsweetened). Thin to medium mouthfeel. Certainly restrained for the style and ultimately disappointing. HogTownHarry (4005), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 9, 2006 Bottle (12oz). Shared with blankboy and tupalev, blankboy’s bottle. Hazy orange, decent white head. Aroma of hops, pine and citrus zest, some juicy malt body - straightforward. Restrained hop medley in the taste, some lemon zest, some evergreen hops, but the bitterness is a little disappointing and slightly sour. Average everything here - not bad, but not in the upper third of american IPAs Brigadier (1240), Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA

One of the last beers that I opted to rate for the afternoon before hitting
some old standbys. It compares favorably with the From Hell version.
Actually, I think I prefer this one more because it is not quite so in your
face. Since it is a regular Tyranena release, I may be picking this up again
in the near future to deal with the 90 degree weather.
Aroma / Appearance - A fresh bouquet of hops greeted my eager nose.
It reminded me of freshly waxed floors or a crisp winter night during a
snowfall. The deep orange body was inviting, tempting me to take a sip.
Flavor / Palate - This was definitely still hoppy, though not in the
same way as Bitter Woman from Hell. Rather than an intense bitterness, it
is a smooth bitterness that slowly slides to the back of the throat and then
down. It was almost as if someone had liquified a stand of evergreens. Soon
I was able to detect a nice subtle combination of vanilla and plums. This
was very well done and enjoyable. I’m not sure I could drink more than two
before my palate was toast but that would not stop me from trying. AlchemistZ (493), Richmond, Virginia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 28, 2006 A pleasant copper color with an off-white head that is thick and laces nicely. The only downside is preteinaceous flakes in suspension that make the beer look like an upturned snowglobe. Aroma is strongly grapefruit, some sweet fruit, and grassy notes that remind me of Simcoe hops (good aroma but slightly unidimensional). Flavor is very much the same as the aroma. This is a straightforward IPA with a nice balance and intense grapefruit hop flavor. The nice malt foundation supports the hop flavor and acidity very well. I could drink quite a few of these. jeffc666 (1891), Fairfax, Virginia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 14, 2006 Light copper body. Citurs hops aroma. Good malt strucutre supporting the citrus hops. Medium bodied and better then the "extra" version of this brew. Jabswitch (211), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 2, 2006 First time I drank this I thought it was pretty harsh. Gave it a second chance and found that my taste in beer has changed. Cool name and label. Indistinct aroma. Nice amber appearance. I liked the fizziness. Thin filmy head. Bitterness like you would expect in an IPA. But it wasn’t sharp at all. The aftertaste was bitter, but nice. Not sour. A really drinkable ale. I was surprised that the ABV was only 5.75%. I had my first Tyranena at a beer tasting session in Sheboygan 3 years ago. Thought they were a nobody at that time. But they obviously know what they are doing judging by the ratings on their offerings. Great product from this Badger State operation. I think they have a great future!
