Big frothy build up in the mouth like a rabid man. The bitterness of this brew scalded my palate with the intensity of a soap in the eye. It rendered my sense of taste useless. BITTER, BITTER, BITTER, like battery acid. Clean, crisp, pine and citrus rind were all I could taste. Not knocking it though, just extremely bitter. The most bitter ale I’ve ever had. I was lucky enough to get this sample from bockyhorsey, otherwise I never would have known it existed. Thanks amigo. OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA

Aromas of grapefruit, and floral hops, some apricot, and light caramel malts. Flavor is much more balanced. Nice caramel backbone is covered well with citrus hops and just a touch of pine as well. Finishes with a dry bitter end that is fitting for the name of the brew. I found it hard to resist this old woman’s charm. KingpinIPA (842), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 18, 2006 Beautiful clear orange-amber with small yellowish head. Very nice, dry hops nose, with fresh lunaria, nectarine, honey & cookies. Later also grapefruit - and loads of lupuline. Dry bitterness, malt cookies for diabetics, Knäckebröd, some citrus and recurring bitter punch. As an IPA ought to be. Slightly slick, well bodied. After some time, the bitterness acquires alas a metallic, even kinine-like edge. ’t Was nearly done with me: was falling in love with an old spinster. The harshness recalled me to more sweet fruits. Still... Suggests the grapefruit dominance of Three Floyds Dreadnaught Imperial IPA, but with a much lower ABV, it makes a good session beer. I’ve traveled to Wisconsin just to stock up on this beer. Folks at the Tyranena Brewery are great. Now if I can only convince them to bring back Bitter Woman from Hell. Schroppfy (1813), Ohio, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Feb 3, 2006 Very bitter (grapefruit, slight pine). Yet, also nicely malted (slight caramel sweetness) but the body is a bit thin. A bit bready. Tasty and drinkable for the ABV. The color is quite nice, more coppery than exected. Good one, Joel! jimbowood (956), Athens, Georgia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 2, 2006 Bottle courtesy of hopdog pours yellow/orange with a huge, fluffy head that quickly dissipates. Caramel malt evident immediately w/ nutty, creamy malt flavors and a bitter hop aftertaste. Nice, drinkable beer.
