| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 29, 2009 Bottle at Ed’s No Name Bar in Winona, MN. Pours hazy orange-copper with a decent off-white head. Aroma is brown sugar, oranges, and floral hops. Tastes like that, heavy on the sugary caramel malt and light on the hops. Not nearly what I was expecting. Not bad though. Maybe if it had come in a bottle that just said "beer" instead of "IPA"... Crosling (1855), Loveland, Colorado, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | May 24, 2009 Pros: Solid appearance with an alluring color and nicely layered foam.
Cons: Hop character is apparent, but needs more brightness and pungency. Too herbal and medicinal for my liking, not citrusy enough. No malt character and a thin body. Just another IPA. Metalhead (571), Lake Zurich, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 16, 2009 This a nice light IPA. Doesn’t have much punch as bitter hops go but does have a decent tho light citrus pine thing goin on. Which is a good thing. Also some real mild malt. Nice beer to kick back with on a warmish day. $8 a six. BeerBunker (616), Burbank, Illinois, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 9, 2009 12oz bottle. Pours golden with an off-white head. Nice lively carbonation. Aroma was way less hoppy than I had expected. Instead, it had a very malty aroma with lots of pine, citrus, and grass. Taste was very malty, with the hops buried underneath. The hop profile was extremely muted, but was still present. There were also notes of citrus, pine, and a little caramel. Lingering hop and pine taste. Mouthfeel is smooth and drinkable. This is a very drinkable beer. Unfortunately, the weak hop profile really hurt it as an IPA. beernbourbon (304), chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 3, 2009 Bottle. Solid IPA, enjoyed outside on a sunny day. Aroma is mostly pine and citrus hops with a hint of caramel. Flavor is crisp and hoppy. Straight forward IPA, maybe a bit less hoppy than some. Very good. tmoreau (597), Lombard, Illinois, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 3, 2009 On tap, and pint served at the IL. Tyranena launch party at Lunar Brewing Co., Villa Park, IL. Poured a clear, gold/amber tone with a foamy, off white head and good, clingy lacing. The aroma was equal amounts of strong citrus and pine, tempered in the flavor nicely by some smooth, creamy malt. Stronger hop profile than the Scurvy. Very good IPA. jstraw (774), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 1, 2009 Amber with good, foamy tan head / Bright nose of cut pine, citrus, and weed / Light to medium body, chewy, a touch thin, with decent, very bitter finish / Flavors of toast and dry hops, with faint citrus notes / Fine, but not special. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 21, 2009 12 oz bottle courtesy of Three Cellars (Franklin, WI). Pours a nice aber, bright and lively, with big tannish cakey head tha laces well and is lightly hazed. Aromas are heay on lemon and grapefruit, light grass, and earth with some smal carme malt and pale elements. Nice aroma. Initial is lighter in body, pushing light ple ad care hop up frnt and moving from citrusy hop to more piney resinous bitterness, fairly potent. Lighter bodied, but good bitterness not neccesarily completely balanced though. Points for bitterness, loss for balance issues. Finishes with some potent bitterness and a nice memory on the palate. A little thin. Not bad at all.
