| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 14, 2002 Very hoppy aroma and plenty of bitterness in the body. It has a good malt backbone, but doesn’t transistion as well as it could between different flavors. There is so much competition these days with IPAs, it’s kinda unfair to compare this to some of the best IPAs, because this is still a very good beer. hopscotch (5498), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 21, 2007 Bottle... Mostly clear orange ale with a small, fizzy, off-white head. The aroma is a cornucopia overflowing with hoppy notes of resin, pine, black tea, honey and pink grapefruit. The flavor is harshly bitter, but refined; vicious, but polished. Spicy, black pepper zest with moderate residual sweetness and mild acidity. Medium to full-bodied with a gritty mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Lengthy, bitter, dry finish. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 18, 2006 Beautiful clear orange-amber with small yellowish head. Very nice, dry hops nose, with fresh lunaria, nectarine, honey & cookies. Later also grapefruit - and loads of lupuline. Dry bitterness, malt cookies for diabetics, Knäckebröd, some citrus and recurring bitter punch. As an IPA ought to be. Slightly slick, well bodied. After some time, the bitterness acquires alas a metallic, even kinine-like edge. ’t Was nearly done with me: was falling in love with an old spinster. The harshness recalled me to more sweet fruits. Still... Longfellow might have reconsidered.
