I’ve skipped over this so many times at the store it was time to finally give it a try. I have been missing out on a gem. While it is not the most amazing porter it is solid in all aspects. There are only a few flaws but nothing major.

Aroma / Appearance - Hershey’s chocolate, burnt marshmellows and cocoa almost make it into smores. Iced coffee completes the effective nose. It’s not intense but it does enough. The pour resulted in a deep brown body with a sandy brown head.

Flavor / Palate - Coffee, bittersweet chocolate and charcoal wash across the senses almost immediately. The throat stays wet even after the glass is empty. The mouthfeel might be a little thin for a porter but not watery. For the price this is one of the best porters you can find in Wisconsin.

Good coffee aroma. Head dissipates quickly. To me it seemed thin for a porter. But maybe that is just me.

Very dark pour with some ruby highlights. Head was somewhere bordering on tan but a bit on the small side. Paltry lacing. The aroma was coffee, chocolate, roasted malt, smoke. The mouthfeel was somewhere between thin and medium and the finish was ridiculously dry. Very enjoyable beer.

Bottle. [Courtesy of the famous trio boboski / Papsoe / Ungstrup, yet another great tasting @ Henrik´s] Average beige creamy head that mostly diminished. Dark mahogany color. Fair lacework. Aroma was light notes of chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, light underlying hops. Medium bodied with an average carbonation. Moderated sweet flavor with light bitter notes. Light bitter finish. 18-09-2007

(bottle) Pours dark with a very small white head. Aroma is not pleasant, and is an odd combination of Harbin lager smell mixed with stale popcorn. Aroma eventually tones down with a slight coffee smell as the beer warms. The beer itself is quite thin, the finish is the only decent part of the beer with some taste of coffee and chocolate and a hint of hops.

[Bottle] Pours dark brown with a nearly nonexistent white head. Aroma is...strange, very strange. There is roasted malt and coffee, but a more powerful, somewhat funky aroma dominates. Taste is mainly an unusual roasted malt with a very faint hoppy bitterness at the end. Far too thin. Disappointing to say the least.

12 fl oz bottle. Pours deep dark with deep reddish hue and a lacing little brown head. Roasted malty aroma. Alcohol flavoured burned malt. Ends bitter with a persisting burned/roasted note.

Pours a thick dark roast coffee black with a small tan head. Very rich coffe on the nose with a dose of chocolate. Nice super rich mocha with a nice dose of floral hops on the finish. You better like coffee to like this porter. A little thin on the palate though.
