An aroma of coffe dominates chocolate is secondary. A flavor of espresso. A very good bitter on the finish. Palate is just a tad thin and slightly over carbonated for me especially in a porter. A good beer with just slight flaws that keep it from being excellent. vyvvy (2068), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 29, 2006 Many thanks to Sneagrams3 for the trade for this porter. Pours dark brown with a crimson hue and rocky dark tan head. The aroma has roasted malt, dark chocolate and soda effervesence - clean aroma. Medium body that is fairly smooth with the prickly carbonation doesn’t interfer. Starts with creamy bitter roasted malt with some char. The flavor is more bold than most porters. The finish has a lingering bitter char, some cream and a light hop bite. A nicely done porter. porterhouse (1161), Alna, Maine, USA

A good standard porter...Pours dark birch beer brown with three fingers of khaki head that becomes somewhat rocky as it recedes. Nose is milk chocolate and touch of roastiness. Mouthfeel smooth, pretty full. Flavor is like a chocolate milkshake with a touch of bitterness. Some mild roasted coffee. Taste becomes slightly chocolate syrup-like in finish. Seems like a good example of the style. jason (1624), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Dec 22, 2006 Pours deep deep dark crimson with a tan head. Not a lot of aroma but some roasted malt and chocolate. Taste of chocolate, coffee and sweet malts almost candy sweet hit the back of the pallete. but it is a bit watery and light on the pallete. Even for this being considered a session beer, its a bit weak. grimreeser (797), Minnesota, USA

A moderately sweet flavor. Clean finish. Dickinsonbeer (3497), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA
