Bottle... Clear, crimson ale with a small, fizzy, beige head. Milk chocolate and pistacio make up the aroma. Roasty flavor. Medium bitter with notes of cocoa powder. Good balance. Medium-bodied and fizzy. Lengthy, burnt, bitter finish. Thanks to MilkmanDan for generously sharing this bottle with the D.C. crew!

Provided by MilkmanDan. Brown cola body with tan head. The aroma is vanilla, molases, chocolate with lots of oak. The flavor is sweet oaky vanilla, brown sugar, but fairly light. Medium/light bod, watery texture.

Roasted malt nose...some smoke hints. Smoke again in the flavor, dark roasted grain, molasses, brown sugar, some mild hop bitterness (hints, really) and a light note of sweet chocolate and coffee. Pretty drinkable in every way. Slight hint of sourness or astringency detracts a bit, but not overly so. Moderate carbonation. Enjoyable version of this style.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with amber hues and a small tan head. Plenty of roasts and smoke on the nose. The roasts come through in the taste, albeit much milder, along with wood, molasses, and hints of cocoa. Nothing sets this apart from other porters but it still is a good brew.

Bottle: Dark brown, nearly black, moderate beige foamy head, fairly nice lacing.   Milk sugar induced roasted malt nose, even a bit earthy.   Sweet tongue, chewy malts, roasty, with the aformentioned milk sugar.   Very subtle hop presense.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Sweet malty lactose like finish.   Soft roasted malts linger.   Fairly good, like a dessert Porter.   Thanks John for sending TWO of these guys!

12oz bottle via trade with DavidP - Thanks David - Pours very dark brown with a creamy tan head that stays very well and laces the sides of the glass in layers. Aroma is light hops and a touch of coffee. Rather light in aroma. Flavor is more coffee, and dark bakers chocolate. Some definite pine hop presence as well. Also a good amount of roasted malt flavor there too. Palate is light and just a touch of astringency there to keep it from being described as creamy. Not bad.. Pretty easy to drink

Bottled. Poured a clear, deep chestnut brown with a well-retained cap of beige head... some lacing ensued. Nose was soapy and hop-based.. with burnt coffee and dark chocolate playing second and third fiddle. Flavor began with sharp pine and bittersweet chocolate... roasted coffee and more dark malt followed. Coffee and pine bitterness increased with time, and some tart dark fruits showed up, too. Medium-bodied with a cola feel on the palate. Finish was of tacky, burnt dark malts and a significant coffee bitterness. OK porter.
