I like this one because it has good flavor, but is not overpowering, its quite mild, and drinks good. it has good dark malt flavor, and coffee isn’t overpowering. Good porter! Thanks Duane!

Sampled on tap at Tyranena on 9/10/05. Pours to a dark but not pitch black body with a white head. A red shine is present. The aroma is a huge roasted coffee with chocolate and grass hops. The flavor is huge chocolate, coffee, roasted dark malts, and a smooth iced tea and grass hops. Very smooth and nice for a porter. The palate is smooth and medium bodied. Good texture. On par with the best porters.

Dark chocolate color with a miniscule head. Aroma is a little light, a mellow roasted smell. Flavor is very bold coffee and cream variety. The end is dry and a bit resinous. The flavors mellow quickly, and the aftertaste is like unsweetened chocolate. Very nice balance and drinkability! Lots of roasted malt, a bit of hops, and a smooth overall character. Body is, perhaps, a bit thin, but this is more of an observation than a complaint.

Bottle thanks to my Secret Santa. Dark black color with a small cream head on the ring of the glass. Strong aroma of coffee and cream, roasted chocolate and caramel. Flavor comes off as malty, roasted and real smooth until the end chalky dryness of a good porter.

Bottle: Courtesy of Duane via trade. Aroma of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, and some light piney hops. Pours a dark brown with only the slightest of orange hilights when held to the light. Small tan head quickly fades to a ring. Malty up front with a good amount of chocolate and light caramel. Nice piney finish and even a little grapefruit for balance with the slightest hints of coffee. Short lived piney aftertaste that quickly fades and leaves chocolate and caramel lingering slightly longer. A solid porter.

Poured a dark, dark brown with an averaged sized tan head. Aromas of chocolate, roasted malts and an earthen mustiness to it. Tastes of chocolate, coffee, and some dark fruits. Starts out lightly sweet and ends lightly bitter. Some lacing left on the glass.

much thanks to Duane for this bottle, pours a virtual black body topped with a fizzy tan head. nose is rich with chocolates and some kind of sweet fruit that i cant nail down, as well as a bit of vanilla. a sweet chocolate and burnt malt taste starts and finishes each sip, and the middle is made up of a nice dose of sweet vanilla. if it werent for the hard burnt aftertaste, i would almost think this was a lactose porter. smooth and creamy body and soft, low carbonated mouthfeel. thanks alot duane.

bottle-thanks to secret santa for this one. pours pretty much pitch black with a nice beige head that faided fast. big dark chocolate, roast, dark fruit, char, smoke, this is nice! flavors exhibit lots of the char and dark chocolate but some oxidization. Body is medium, but somewhat fizzy and metallic. finish is mostly char and chocolate. This would be fantasitc fresh on tap. pretty good!
