On tap - poured dark brown with decent sized tan head. Aroma - chocolate, toasted malt and hint of vanilla. Flavor - coco, coffee and mild nutty taste. Palate - thin mouthfeel with little carbonation. Finish is mild with no aftertaste. Overall - pretty basic porter, tastes good and is easy to drink.

bottled 21 july 2008 by way of moelikebeer...

pours slightly darker than the usual ruby brown porter color with a small tan head and sporadic lace spots. it smells... bitter?.. sort of a cocoa powder, ashy high roast, tannic thing going on with notes of coffee, tar, lactic sourness, roasty grain and some twig-like earthiness and dryness. the flavor has lots of coffee (fresh roasted indonesian blend)... especially in the aftertaste where it gets dry and ashy. chocolate and caramel notes are faint and kept in the background so bitter roast, lactic sourness and spice can shine. the sourness seems to get stronger as it warms. medium body with prickly dryness and an almost chalky mouth feel from the ashiness... if you enjoy chocolate porters than this one is not for you...7/4/6/3/15/3.5

March Houston Tasting. Thanks to Kaggie. Pours a light black with big carbonation and a head that grabs the ring of the glass. Nose of cherry, roast and a bit of metal. Flavor is roasted grains with a bit of cola. Dry, thin and ashy body. Eh.

12oz bottle thanks to KAggie at our March Houston Tasting. Pours a dark brown with a thin, bubbly tan head. Nose is of smoke, roast malt and cola. Taste is roast malt and nut. Mouthfeel is thin. Unimpressed.

Clear deep ruby-dark color with a very large tan head. Like pouring a warm cola. Milk chocolate aroma with some sweet roasted malt. Roasted sweet malt. Some chocolate. Bitterness at the very end. Carbonic bite to the tongue. Light to medium body.

Bottle. Pours a beautiful onyx black with a nice olive-green head. Aroma is a thin, plasticky smoked cocoa and chocolate with a hint of perfume. Flavor is smokey chocolate bites soaked in ashtray perfume. Sounds weird, but it’s not terrible. Quite interesting, actually. Average mouthfeel. Not bad; I’d probably light one up again.

bottle. Almost a black pour. Not much of a head. Nose is really roasted and toasted with some nice chocolate notes. Flavor is richers and sweeter than I expected from the nose. Lots of chocolate, roasted malt and some hints of coffee.
