| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 24, 2003 This poured out as a great solid dark, leathery brownish black color with slivers of dark, ruby red highlights. A finger high head was produced of creamy, tannish foam that faded slowly leaving a thin haze on top with slight patchy lace. Smell is quite nice, although its a bit faint, but whats there is a sweetish, coffeeish aroma with some hop notes near the back. Taste is a mild, lightly earthy and deep, slightly burnt roasted malt in flavor with a hint of coffee and cocoa, and is sweetly smooth the whole way through with caramel notes lingering. Nothing really stands out to much in the flavors, its solid mildness is quite nice though with a solid medium, nearly heavy body and has a nice, slightly bittering tangyness, that gets carefully dry in the finish. Leaves a weird cottonmouth effect, which I actually find appealing. Another fine brew by Tyranena LtJudge (432), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 29, 2004 Nice rich, roasted chocolate malt aroma. Color is a deep dark brown, nearly black. Carbonation is medium with a good sized, pillowy mocha head. Nice, rich malty profile. Slight bitterness from the roasted malt, which makes this pleasingly refreshing. A nice rich beer, with just enough hops to keep things in balance. The malt is in the spotlight here, as well it should be. Well crafted beer. The more beers I have from this brewery, the more of a fan of them I become. 37steel (186), St. Charles, Illinois, USA

Lots of chocolate in the flavor with a biscuty edge to it. Very solid beer. Quite enjoyable. 1FastSTi (2568), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA

Pours to a dark but not pitch black body with a white head. A red shine is present. The aroma is a huge roasted coffee with chocolate and grass hops. The flavor is huge chocolate, coffee, roasted dark malts, and a smooth iced tea and grass hops. Very smooth and nice for a porter. The palate is smooth and medium bodied. Good texture. On par with the best porters. Pigfoot (2226), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 28, 2004 Appearance: deep, fully black color, with a huge, lush, creamy tan head. Nose is all cocoa and cream, notes of coffee, and bits of bitterness. Lovely.
Bitterness continues through the palate, but mildly. Malt is thick, mouthfeel lush, smooth, relaxed, but still hearty as any porter ought to be.
Well-rounded as can be, this is my idea of a session beer, full of character and flavor, easy to down, but rewarding with flavor.
Good, good stuff, this! It’d earn a permanent place in my fridge, if it only crossed the border into MN.
