Powerful, almost intense bakers chocolate and roast aroma, I bet this is what the amkers of the origianl porter were shooting for, taste is the distinct slightly charred chocolate and coffee, may be on the light side ,but for some reason ,my palate is incredibly alive tonight, and that chocolate/coffee intensity is just perfect, mild bitterness in the finish, more of the Bakers choclate then hopping, gets a little stronger towards end of pint, also has that fantastic smoothness That Mr. Larson is able to get in his porters, almost like your drinking a casked ale.Excellent porter that should be enjoyed on a clean palate. On tap at Tyranena

Tap at Tyranena. Poured to a black but translucent body with a nice thick dark tan head. The aroma was pretty much malt and roast. The flavor was a good porter. But I did not get much of the chocolate at all. Good overall beer, but I expected more of the coco.

On tap at the brewery - Pours dark and luscious, with a creamy tan head. Smells lactic and slightly roasty, with a bit of a boozy twinge. Got a bit of coffee and chocolate, but didn’t smell as robust as some of their other imperial porters. This beer needs to warm up, and once it does there are some nice roasty, dark malt flavors that mix with some sweet malt notes. The chocolate comes through a bit as it warms, though it’s more of a dark, bitter chocolate than anything sweet. Finish is bitter roast, a slight hop twinge, and a nice charcoal ashiness. Smooth and creamy in the mouth, with a heavy mouthfeel that I love.

Draft at Sugar Maple: Pours a mostly opaque with a short-lived small creamy tan head. Has a sweet dark chocolate and doughy malts with some piny hops. Starts with a rich sticky dark caramel sweetness and bittersweet dark chocolate and coffee in the finish. A little underattenuated but still fairly enjoyable.

$3 on tap at Dexters! What a deal :) Pours a murky brownish black with a head about a finger size. Tan and frothy but it dissipates rather quickly. The aroma doesn’t however, and it comes blasting through. Chocolate- not so much but everything else- roasted coffee, tofee and smoke are more the noticeable. Again, chocolate is very subtle but smoke and rich roasted malts are powerful and enticing. A really great deal for such a wonderful beer. I’ve been blessed by the beer fairy lately with all this good tasting beverages."

Draft at the OF. Opaque black with a patchy beige head. Roasty chocolate aroma. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Excellent example of the style. Rich and full, with a smooth yet pleasantly bitter chocolate touch. One of the best I’ve had from Tyranena. Maintains it’s Porter characteristics while merging effortlessly with the bold Imperial ABV and cocoa nibs.

Heavily roasted aroma. Black. Flavor is roasted grain, almost burnt, but there is chocolate in here as well, baking chocolate. Dry. Smooth palate.
