You know what, I’ve got no issue with that. Full body. Sick coffee, chocolate, light vanilla character. Hugely dessert-like. They should turn this into an ice cream. I love a beer that gives me a visceral reaction like this. Sparky27 (1596), Phoenix, Arizona, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 12, 2008 Bottle courtesy of Guerde. Pours a pitch oil black with 2 finger brown head and delicate lacing. Nose is coffee grounds, coffee and a hint of bourbon. Taste is vanilla, milk chocolate, oats, coffee, oak and a touch of bourbon in the finish. Really mellow on the bourbon for a barreled aged beer, which is not a bad thing. Semi-Full, creamy mouth feel. A very good brew. Thanks Andy! CaptainCougar (5517), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 11, 2008 12oz Bottle: Pours a mostly opaque black with dark mahogany edges and a stringy-lacing rich tan head. Aroma of roasty smoky dark malts and coffee with a nice bourbon complexity. Body starts with nice fullness and good dark caramel and chocolate sweetness balanced with fresh coffee and bourbon oaky notes. Finishes slightly more bitter, dry and roasty with enjoyable lingering dark chocolate flavors. Very nicely balanced, smooth and dangerously drinkable. I don’t know if this has the body and alcohol to age for a number of years, but I couldn’t imagine it tasting much better than it already does. Bockyhorsey (2546), Mesa, Arizona, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 11, 2008 Shared a bottle with eaglefan538. Good roasted coffee aroma. Dark body with tan head.. Good dose of roasted coffee and some vanilla creamy chocolate noticable. I didn’t notice any bourbon either as beer was smooth and alcohol hidden. Thanks to the mother in law for getting some to me in the west. Beerlando (2341), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 10, 2008 A dense looking, dark mahogany to virtually black body awaits in the glass. A foamy, khaki colored head settles to a thin layer, leaving minimal, random spotting behind. Freshly ground, roasted coffee beans dominate the foreground of the aroma, causing the nostrils to flare, and allowing for complimentary notes of dark cocoa and cream to be enjoyed. Flavors include darkly roasted, nearly burnt coffee, lactose, rich chocolate, and earthy, bitter hops. I pick up just the faintest possible bourbon note in the finish. Roasty espresso lingers on the finish. The mouthfeel is smooth, velvety, and moderately carbonated. This is dangerously drinkable, and a coffee lover’s dream. Watch out Peche Mortel, there’s another dark coffee beer on the prowl. eaglefan538 (2383), Wilmington, Delaware, USA

The head was very thin, ended as a little ring around the edges of the surface. The aroma was coffee with some cocoa and roasted elements. No bourbon? Excellent, a not overdone bourbon aged beer. The flavor followed wonderfully the aroma, excellent coffee, cocoa underneath, some roasty notes, and only a touch of vanilla / slight bourbon. The mouthfeel was smooth, oily, but not motor oil thick or sticky. Another excellent shot at a brew by Tyranena, a stellar brewery, maybe underspoken of. Thanks for sharing, Bill! | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 8, 2008 This is some good stuff. Gee golly wiz. Good stuff. Pours black with nice cream colored head and really nice lacing. Very aromatic. Smells like coffee. The flavor is really good to boot. Tastes like a really manly capuchino, if there is such a thing. The bourbon comes in the finish and is very smooth. It follows all the way through with a very pleasant after taste. I am very impressed. Tripplebrew (496), Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA
