Dirty Old Man "Gimme A Sponge BAth!" Nearly turning the corner on 40, I wonder if this is where I’m headed...et tu, Rob? Dark brown in color, beautiful,. toasty tan head keeps command above...lovely looking... I get the rye, roasty and dry...nicely toasted. Dusted cocoa powder... Taste: a chocolate bomb, with a muted explosion, dry rye reigns it in. Simply put: someone put peanut butter in my chocolate! Cool, classical, and utterly satisfactory...not too sweet, not too rich, but with very prominent booziness. Rye porters seem to be the way to go...put some in a whiskey barrel and you’ve got me on a leash! Cool...lightly sweet, big time dry, full on flavor, expanse satisfaction. Hotcha!

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Courtesy of Skyview. Clear warm reddish brown with a small light brown head. Aroma of wood and whiskey. Quite full-bodied with sweetish roasted malts and a touch of chocolate. Smooth roasted finish without much bitterness. 220808

Bottled sample via (and consumed with) oakbluff. Dark brown in colour with moderate carbonation. Malt dominant nose, with notes of caramel fudge, a bit of roasted malt, and whisky. The slick and heavy mouthfeel is supported by elements of toffee, fudge, and caramel malt. A bit of a rye-whisky flourish at the end provides some interest. Solid, but a bit of a letdown considering all of the high ratings.

Thanks Santa. Black body, big tight tan head. Nose is whiskey, wood, some burnt malt, lots of roasty toffee, light twang from the whiskey. Flavor is whiskey, woody cherries, light smoke, chocolate. Finish is bittersweet w. chocolate & fruity wood.

Pours brown with a ruby red hue and some fizzy white bubbles. Smells of rye, cherries, whiskey, oak, molasses, caramel. Tastes sweet and slightly tarte with a nice sugary touch and lots of spiciness. The rye gives this one a nice underlying sweetness. Nice.

Bottle from bockyhorsey on one of my semi-recent trips West. The pour was dark brown, solid head and lacing. The aroma was coffee, chocolate, vanilla, some booz/whiskey. The flavor followed the aroma, additionally some caramel and a nice touch of roast and some bitterness (from the rye?), quite drinkable, not one of those overly coffeed up beers, sweet treats, whatever you want to call them. These guys never disappoint, a fantastic series to drink up, and much thanks to Bill for sharing this one!!!
