madvike (314), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Nov 19, 2009 Bottle - Black pour with a quickly dissipating tan head. Smells dark and malty, with coffee, oaky whiskey, and grain. It’s a bit hot, but that’s to be expected. Has a nice chocolate/graham cracker quality to it too. Taste is smoke and dark malt--real oaky and with some nice smooth whiskey. Finish is coffee and chocolate. A little thin and watery, but that’s my only qualm. Very nice, and glad this one was re-released. chicagodri (1034), Chicago, Illinois, USA Nov 15, 2009 Pours dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of sweet malt, chocolate, whiskey, rye. Slight chocolate, booze, little vanilla in there also. Interesting beer, I liked it. Gotta love the name. MIBRomeo (1965), Wisconsin, USA Nov 12, 2009 Dark brown pour w/ a thick well lacing tan head. Aroma was well malted some hints of grain vanillas, oak, and whiskey come through cleanly a good malt sweetness as well. Palate is thick and well coated. Flavor was good, but not great. The rye comes through quite nicely and doesn’t dominate but the porter is a bit to weak for the barreling the chocolates are hidden but present vanillas lightly in the finish some char wood. A bit more chocolaty porter would have made this outstanding. michael-pollack (2639), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 30, 2009 12oz. Bottle: Aroma of malts, chocolate, slight wood, slight whiskey, vanilla, and some bourbon. Poured extremely deep brown/black in color with a tiny, brown head that diminished but lasted around the edges. Opaque. Flavor is light to medium sweet. Tastes of whiskey, wood, slight coffee, light chocolate, slight bourbon, light vanilla, light roasted malts, slight rye, and hints of tar and tobacco. Medium to full body. Smooth, then slightly dry texture. Soft to average carbonation. Slight chocolate, light wood, slight tar, slight tobacco, slight whiskey, and light vanilla finish is lightly dry. 7.9%ABV is completely hidden throughout. nqualls (1429), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Sep 30, 2009 Source:12 oz bottle.

nbutler11 (731), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Sep 7, 2009 Bottle received as a gift from hellbilly -- thanks, man! Pours a roasted coffee color with a ruby tint and a tan head. Smells aggressively of rye and red peppers. Actually, this reminds me a lot of pepper jack cheese. Has a lot of bite in flavor, but it’s conterbalanced by the creaminess of the malt and some bakers cocoa. An interesting combination, but not quite as balanced as the other Tyranena beers I’ve tried. garmonbozia (226), Hattiesburg, Mississippi, USA Sep 6, 2009 Bottle courtesey of headbanger. Nicedark red color. lots of caramel with a dry bourbon aftertaste. I’m not crazy about alot of bourban beers but this was nice. Lots of chocolate in the mix also. Ungstrup (15004), Frederiksberg, Denmark Sep 4, 2009 Bottled. A deep red beer with a thin tan head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and over ripe fruits. The flavor is sweet malty combined with notes of over ripe fruits and a bit of oxidation, leading to a dry fruity finish. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.
