| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 23, 2009 On tap at Brixie’s in Brookfield, IL. and dispensed to a large snifter. The head was foamy and tan toned, and left some nice, curtainy lacing in it’s wake. The aroma and flavor were very similar notes of strong roastiness, coffee, dark/dry chocolate, some toffee, caramel and also hints of whiskey soaked cask wood and vanilla. Close to full bodied, with somewhat low carbonation that seemed to thin it out a bit. Possessed kind of a rich, iced coffee nature. sleestak (190), Williamston, Michigan, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 22, 2009 On tap at the Map Room. Pours very dark brown with a middling tan head. Aroma is incredibly earthy (it smells like dirt, but in the good way) with notes of rye and chocolate. Flavor is crisp and dry, delightfully roasty with chocolate notes. Rye definitely accentuates the overall flavor and the oak never overpowers. Substantial body that never gets syrupy, and lots of micro-carbonation. Please sir...may I have some more?? madvike (343), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 19, 2009 Bottle - Black pour with a quickly dissipating tan head. Smells dark and malty, with coffee, oaky whiskey, and grain. It’s a bit hot, but that’s to be expected. Has a nice chocolate/graham cracker quality to it too. Taste is smoke and dark malt--real oaky and with some nice smooth whiskey. Finish is coffee and chocolate. A little thin and watery, but that’s my only qualm. Very nice, and glad this one was re-released. chicagodri (1063), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Slight chocolate, booze, little vanilla in there also. Interesting beer, I liked it. Gotta love the name. MIBRomeo (1965), Wisconsin, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 12, 2009 Dark brown pour w/ a thick well lacing tan head. Aroma was well malted some hints of grain vanillas, oak, and whiskey come through cleanly a good malt sweetness as well. Palate is thick and well coated. Flavor was good, but not great. The rye comes through quite nicely and doesn’t dominate but the porter is a bit to weak for the barreling the chocolates are hidden but present vanillas lightly in the finish some char wood. A bit more chocolaty porter would have made this outstanding. michael-pollack (2718), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA
