| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | May 15, 2009 Bottle. Deep wonderful aroma of chocolate, raisins, cherries, bourbon, and oak. Black with a hazy brown head and good lacing. Chocolate followed by whiskey, roasted coffee notes, and nuttiness in that order. Finishes with a rye spiciness and more chocolate and coffee. Phenomenal. Thick but not syrupy. Well balanced. BeerandBlues2 (3230), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 1, 2009 Bottle. Pours opaque with a small, fizzy, dark brown head, somewhat diminishing with fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (coffee, chocolate, toasted grain), light hop (herbs), heavy yeast (leather, earth) with notes of oak, whiskey, plum, and vanilla. Full bodied, creamy texture, average carbonation, and a dry finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness, acidity, and bitterness. Alldaydrinker (558), Norwood, Massachusetts, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 20, 2009 Pours a dark black color with a small brown head. Nose of roasted malt, whiskey, caramel, touch of coffee, not super complex but very inviting. Initial taste of roasted malt backed by whiskey notes. Molasses, dark chocolate, coffee and vanilla develop on the mid palate. Finish is oily and sweet. Mildly warming abv. Mild carbonation doesn’t deter this beer at all. Light to medium body. Very drinkable and delicous. Above average palate duration. Good head retention. SudsMcDuff (1703), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 4, 2009 Pours black with a moderate light brown head. Aroma speaks strongly of the barrel and whiskey that the beer originates from, as well as vanilla, dark chocolate, and dessert spices. tastes similar, but sweeter than the aroma lets on, with more vanilla type flavors. Finishes woody and pretty sweet there too. Mild carbonation and slick oily body. Good stuff. bluemooner (237), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
