Bottle 12fl.oz.
Clear medium to dark red brown color with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, dark berry notes, wood and whisky. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. (220808)

12 oz. bottle. Dark black color with a thin, bubby light tan head. Wonderful whisky aroma with subtle hints of vanilla and toffee. Mouthfeel is nice and creamy. Very low carbonation. Flavor is a treat. Slight smoked, roasted hints blend well with the chocolate undertones. Some rye sweetness. Finish is a bit meaty. Great beer.

12 ounce bottle shared by cdumler. Thanks! Pours pure black with a one-finger medium head. Simply divine aroma with strong whiskey barrels, caramel, brown sugar, maple syrup, toffee and subtle hops. Taste is whisky, smoke, hops, molasses, tobacco, caramel. Full bodied.

An interesting and good beer, to be sure, but not everything I want. Although, I’ve long had a systematic disfavor for rye--I’m starting to think it is a rye allergy or something crazy because I don’t know of any rye beers that have ever sat well with me. Black body, very decent, though not a significant head; quite low on carbonation. Significant wood to this, though not much with rye whiskey. Roasted, chocolate richness, but a somewhat thinner palate--maybe because this is a porter and not a stout--but it creates an odd pairing of a slippery liquid with the rich flavors.

In short: A highly drinkable woody and roasted black beer with a strong rye character. Excellent.
How: Bottle 12oz, thanks to the simultaneous generosity of Stine, Ughsmash and KingpinIpa. Thanks a lot to you all guys. Drank roughly 6 months after the beer release
The look: Black body topped by a medium tan head
In long: Rye rather apparent on the nose. Expected Whiskey flavour is not really apparent although the beer has a strong woody character certainly coming from the Whiskey barrels. The taste has this light juicy/spicy rye character that fits in perfectly with the woody barrels. Peppery sensation but it might be the burnt malts interacting with the wood. I really liked how the fruity notes (red fruits) blended in with the roastiness and wood. In my wildest dream I always wished there would one day be a beer named after me, this will be the one if they brew it again 20 years from now.

Bottle thanks to Monger, a world-class trader. Aroma and initial flavor are very much of a Rauchbier. Borders on an imperial stout from the dark, spicey chocolate and the burnt coffee. The roast (meat char) is what saves it and makes it remain a Porter. Whiskey barrels impart char and meatiness, not explicit whiskey - very well done!

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Courtesy of Skyview. Clear warm reddish brown with a small light brown head. Aroma of wood and whiskey. Quite full-bodied with sweetish roasted malts and a touch of chocolate. Smooth roasted finish without much bitterness. 220808

Bottled sample via (and consumed with) oakbluff. Dark brown in colour with moderate carbonation. Malt dominant nose, with notes of caramel fudge, a bit of roasted malt, and whisky. The slick and heavy mouthfeel is supported by elements of toffee, fudge, and caramel malt. A bit of a rye-whisky flourish at the end provides some interest. Solid, but a bit of a letdown considering all of the high ratings.
