JPDIPSO (4864), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Sep 10, 2008 Luckily this was still on tap, I had heard it was nearly gone over a week prior to my visit. My understanding of this beer is that it is the bourbon barrel aged part of DIrty Old Man (the 40% part). Opaque near black color with a small lid of tiny bubbles. A few isles of lace. Dark chocolate, light roasted malt, bourbon oak and vanilla scents. Fairly complex, but nothing over different than many other oak aged dark ales. Rich and think in feel. A bit mouthcoating, but it didn’t seem to get cloying. German chocolate flavors in front along with a backdrop of caramel malt. Bourbon, vanilla, and oak come out quite prominently, but don’t add an over powering presence, as if a shot of either Jim Beam or Jack Daniels was added. Light roasted and malt and a mild black malt bitterness in the finish and linger. Not as hot as the original, which surprises me. Nice relaxing brew after a Badger victory. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Aug 18, 2008 Date: 08/07/2008
