Tap at Tyranena. Pours to a hazy straw colored body with a very cream white head and nice lacing. The flavor is very strong bananas, caramle, banana’s foster, wheat. Quite good for the style. The aroma is strong raw wheat, ripe banana bread. The palate is chewy, medium bodied, crisp. A VERY good hefe.

On tap at Tyranena, June 2006.
Hazy, muted pale yellow in color with a creamy white overlay and traditional white lacing. Bananas leap out of the glass with cloves, vanilla and sweet, sugary lemon chews. This aroma is everything a hefe should attempt to emulate. Creaminess onsets with a palatable summer quenching technique. Vanilla and cloves come to the forefront with a gentle peppered, sucked-on lemonhead mobility. That buttery vanilla crème is such a thorough, encompassing flavor trait. Effervescence is where we want it, and a citric lemon gloss shine falls supplely over the tongue’s sides. A pillowy banana feature is complimented by a subtle marigold flavor from the hop delicacy. Clover comes out more with citric intuitions in the end, but the vanilla lemon crème sees us out. A fantastic hefeweizen that bridges the distance and shatters the barriers between the U.S. and Bavaria.

Clear yellow body befor eI swirled and mixed in the yeast. The white head went away fairly quickly. The aroma is classic clove and bananas. There is not much else to smell here, but what else do you need in a hefe? The taste is light and fairly refreshing. It is over the top banana with some light clove in the finish. A little too much carbonation for me. This is a decent hefe that may be better when fresh.

This one poured with virtually no head and had adark yellow color. The aroma was of seet banana, clove, and maybe bubblegum. The taste was smooth with virtually no hops taste or aroma detected. A slight graininess in the mouthfeel. A good session style hefe.

Pours a hazy golden color with little head. Smells of banana, clove, and pepper. Taste is appears to be cinnamon, clove, banana, and yeast. Highly carbonated and very smooth. A decent hefe but no much for Weihenstephaner’s hefe.

On tap at the brewery. Great banana and spice clove aroma. Cloudy yellow with a thin, white head. Sweet candy banana in the flavor, the spice doesn’t show up as much in the flavor as it does in the aroma. Creamy feel to it. This was pretty good.

Bottle: A slight hazed golden hue with a lasting foamy head and good lace. The aroma has notes of clove, banana, lemon, wheat, and bubblegum. The taste starts spicy and banana overtones. A moderate citric twang and yeasty finish. The feel is good for style. Ovreall, a very well made version, all the bases cover but still could be a bit crisper on the finish. Worth a try for anyone who likes a good hefe.
