Sampled on tap at Tyranena on 9/10/05. This beer pours to a nice amber body with a white head. Decent thickness and spotty lacing. The aroma is kind of a nutty hoppiness. Light sourness. Quite different from most other oktoberfests. Smooth malts, clean body. The flavor almost comes off as a wheat with a roasted hazelnuts and nice Vienna-like malt. This okfest is pretty non-traditional. I like it. Strangely, it seems out of style, kind of bordering on Saison. And, yet, it’s still fest-like. Strange. I like this a lot. Perhaps this year’s batch is much better than 04?

Pours a beautiful amber with a big foamy head and lots of effervesence. Nose is malt, bread and yeast. Creamy on the palate, malt taste comes through followed by a bit of hoppiness on the finish. Very pleasant, not overpowering. Pairs well with ham and cheese, pretzels or nuts.

Nice, fresh malty aroma. Color is beautiful copper orangey color! Carbonation is medium with a nice frothy head. One of the best looking beers I've seen in a while. Taste is malty, somewhat smokey. I don't detect an overabundace of hops, but that is appropriate. Mellow, smooth, clean. Perhaps a bit light in body. Easty to drink, not too bad. This is my first beer from this brewery.

Clear light coppery amber color with a finger high head of off-white fluff and bubbles, fades fairly fast to a soild haze, lace sticks minimal thin strings. Aroma is lightly toasty and malty with a light fruityness and some floral hop and wood notes. Taste has a nice balance of toasty maltyness and floral, grassy hops and an overall dryish wood quality and dry biscuits. Very clean tasting and crisp. A slightly sweet dulled fruityness comes through in some effects once the toastyness decides to leave the palate, subdued and playful, a nice touch. Finish is nice and crispy with small notes of hop bitterness and dull sweet wood dryness. Feel is a solid medium body with good carbonation. A nice drinker of a O-fest.

ON tap at the brewery. Very smooth and balanced oktoberfest brew. Pretty hoppy for an O fest, bonus in my book! Kinda a cross of bitter woman and a regular o fest. Tasty times!

Appearance: clear, light orangey color, with a full, fluffy, froth atop that subtly settles down to size. Aroma: sweetness and malt are king in this arena, some fruit, some herbal/vegetal qualities, too, all around, it’s a complex, terribly interestesting affair, no one-trick pony at all. Mmmm, juuust right. Taste: why don’t we? Ahhh! That’s the stuff! A solid delivery of tasty malt, just the tiniest support from hops, and a never-quitting phalanx of flavors that deploys again and again upon the palate. Rich and, yes, delicious, this is one damned tasty Oktoberfest! How could it be otherwise, it’s Tyranena! Move to Wisconsin, beer lovers! These guys are good! I’m going to have put a polka record on the turntable and oom, pa-pa-pa to this beautiful beer.

Far better than Capital’s Oktoberfest but not as good as HP’ original. Complex and well balanced Toasty smokey maltyness and grassy woody hops clean crisp dry finish with great aftertaste and mouth feel. Body is perhaps touch ligh and a bit more malt, hops, grain would be nic but a very solid, tasty seasonal.

Sampled at the brewery. Pours a nice reddish brown. Nice smoky malty aroma with a nice floral hops. Very creamy roasted malt profile and a nice dose of biscuity sweetness with a light but definately present floral hop finish.
