JK (2945), Richfield, Minnesota, USA Sep 24, 2009 I am very sensitive to bourbon in my beer, but gladly there wasn’t all that much of it here, though some in the aroma. Not much alcohol presence. Aroma and flavor have yeast and real blueberry. Moderate malt, but it is dry grain malt character, and lightly roasted. Just a hint of sourness. If a brewer finds a way to get real blueberry flavor into a beer, I will probably like it. Definitely not a lambic. drewbeerme (2224), Chicago, Illinois, USA Sep 22, 2009 at GTMW ’09. pours auburn white head. nose is mild blueberry. flavors are blueberry, caramel, spritzy and mildly tart. GeneralGao (3051), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Sep 5, 2009 GTMW 2009. Poured a clear amber color with an off white head. Nice aromas of tart blueberry, black pepper, subdued cider vinegar, and oak. Medium bodied with light acidity. Lots of oak flavor with black pepper and subdued notes of fresh blueberry and toffee. I liked this one more than I had anticipated. bu11zeye (5430), Frisco, Texas, USA Aug 24, 2009 (Draught) Pours a lightly hazy dark amber with a small beige head. Aroma of blueberry, grass, caramel, wood, horseblanket, and light vanilla. Flavor of blueberries, bread, caramel, vinous, and some wood in the finish. BDR (2139), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Aug 23, 2009 GTMW 09. Well, the trend is safe for the taste thus far. I was REALLY looking forward to this and was COMPLETELY disappointed. Not much to write about. Nothing but bourbon suspects (vanilla, oak, vinousness) and blueberry. No sourness and no light refreshing chracter like I’d want in a lambic. Just heavy alcohol. madvike (301), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Aug 21, 2009 Sampled @ GTMW ’09 - Man, I REALLY was looking forward to this beer, but it was a real letdown. It pours deep amber and clear with no head. It’s funky and a little sour on the nose, but not really getting the blueberries. Taste is slightly fruity, but I got more chocolate and malt more than anything else. Decent, but I was expecting something a little more focused. esjaygee (1467), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Aug 16, 2009 On tap at the GTMW. Reddish brown with a thin off-white head. Aroma of bourbon, mild blueberries, light vanilla and oak. Taste is mildly sour with bourbon, light blueberries, oak and toasted malt. Somewhat oily mouth feel. I had a lot of interesting bourbon barrel offerings at the GTMW, but this wasn’t one of them. Something just seemed amiss. pantanap (1322), Chicago, Illinois, USA Aug 13, 2009 gtmw09.... pours a semi-transparen dark brown with a soapy white head....aroma of light tart fruit without anything being too distinguishable....flavors had a little bit or earthiness, slightly tart and very little barrel over all. medium carbonation and average mouthfeel.
