Commercial Description:
The Headless Man is brewed in the "old way" of a Düsseldorf-style Altbier. A unique cold lagering process gives this amber ale its smooth taste.

12oz bottle. Aroma: Big grainy maltiness with some notes of biscuit, caramel, and slight toasted nutiness. Some light herbal and grass hop notes. Appearance: Light copper in color and clear. Off-white head was medium and foamy with decent retention. Fair lacing. Flavor: Big toasted malt character, caramel, yeast, and bread dough. Some light citrus, floral, and herbal hops into the finish. Finishes clean. Palate: Medium-light bodied. Medium carbonation. Overall: Not bad. Drinkable and smooth with some nice malt flavor.

Deep golden color out of the bottle with a quickly diminishing off white head. Nose of wet cereal grains and something chalky. Flavors of raw grain, dark pit fruit, light caramel sweetness and a dark rye bread. Very nice alt beer, and I really like this style, and this beer, as a regular beer with food. I wish I could get this at home. Thanks to JCapriotti for the bottles.

Copper amber colored beer with half an inch of white foam on top. Very lively carbonation. Smells nice and carmelly. The taste is smooth and malty, some hazelnut, lightly carmel. Nice little hop bite there to counteract the malt. A bit tangy in the aftertaste - very pleasant.

While this beer didn’t strike me as being incredibly on-style, it did impress me as being a very tasty amber ale. Appearance was a sparkling copper red with an abudant white head (good). Aroma was light and like a very good amber ale (Breckenridge Avalanche comes to mind). Flavor was malty with a very lightly sweet and sour aftertaste. It was good. Mouthfeel was light. Overall, I would recommend this beer.

12 oz bottle. Pours a clear amber with large slow moving bubbles. Aroma of yeast, wheat, and sweet malt. Light mouthfeel and you can taste mild spices, toasted malt, and dough. Nice lasting bitterness. Altbier is not a common style for me to consume, but I enjoyed it.
