Ruby red, dark brown appearance...nice white head. Sweet nose, brandy hits right off the bat, plus sweet malt, nutty notes, ...rich maltiness, barleywine-esque. Taste: bold, brash, bright. Dark malt, few hops, liquor has taken over, though very smooth. Dry, toasty oak flavor comes through. Full bodied, but not thick in the slightest. rich and delicious. I have to wonder how this was fresh. I got to try it courtesy of chocolatier & Tyranena fan who came to my bar for a tapping event. He had aged for about a year. Seems to have done wonders. This is beautiful.

7-12-08 bottle shared with lb4lb thanks to buckybeer
Dark brown pour with a good off-white, not quite ivory, head with very little lacing. Smell is brandy and oak and vanilla lemon cookies. Flavor is nice and like rich rum cake. Rich flavors and you can really taste the brandy and oaky earthy notes. Overall, very enjoyable.

Bottle in trade from buckybeer. Thank you for this beer!
Pours a nice brown color with a creamy beige head. Smell is rich and fruity, with strong brandy smells and a brown toasty malt behind that. Taste is tart, lightly alcoholic with big flavors of brandy, a hint of cherry, and nuts, and fruitiness, along with the brown ale malt background. Some alcohol in the flavor inhibits drinkability, but I really still enjoy the flavor. Slightly creamy body, and a bit warming going down. Very nice beer.

In short: Very woody and rather complex kind of Brown/Scotch Ale hybrid.
How: Bottle 12oz, 6+ months old. Graciously given to me by pzzle, thanks a lot Andy!!
The look: Clear ruby-brown body with a very small beige head
In long: Barrel quite apparent in this one but very well integrated with the beer adding woody notes without that overwhelming bourbon/brandy/whatever flavour. There are some brandy notes but they blend with the nutty and caramel flavours perfectly. Some brown sugar, some more wood, some milky black chocolate and some more wood. Somewhat fruity too but not single fruit standing out. Hints of vanilla. A high-class broad that was cheap to bring home, and when I was finished with it I didn’t lose my condo or had to give away half my salary. That’s my type of high-class broad.

20070428 12oz after TAPNY Very sweet stuff, heartily syrupy. Smells like wheat bread and hate dunked in honey nut cheerios. I have no idea what that means. Notes of chocolate milk and nuts redeem but generally too sweet for me.
